Lol the hate on Zacha. Part of one of the best teams in NHL history that somehow had an extremely dissapointing playoffs and you want him to forget all that and fly over to freaking Latvia for a B-tier tournament?

Zboril is coming because he barely played, I am not sure he is a much of an upgrade anyway, but he's not worse than Jordan or Scotka I guess.
Zacha is the only one of the Boston Czechs who didn’t want to come. Pastrnak and Krejci both played with injuries and are not joining the team purely because of that, otherwise they wanted to play just like last year (when Pastrnak came after Boston lost in the playoffs). Pastrnak has never turned down the national team. Nosek was prepared to play even though he is out of contract, but he needs to get surgery on this nose. Zacha is the only one who excused himself for “personal” reasons, not physical. So yes, I would have expected him to get over the disappointment and play, given that he is completely healthy. All other Boston Czechs would have.

Still no mention about Galvas. I fear, that there is no interest from our staff sadly :(
It is too late for him. Guy like Galvas would have been tried out in pre-tournament games. There have been news about him coming back to Europe, so hopefully he will get his national team chance in the next season.

Galvas can staright up outplay Jordan, Scotka, Jerabek anytime. He should go straight to WCH.

Not to mention that he could easily make the sunday game in Brno, maybe even the saturday, if he flew right the next day after elimination like Zboril did.

Seems like a really missed opportunity, considering the state of our D

I am not sure at all about this.

I am not sure at all about this.
I dont know, he got eliminated yesterday night. So if they contacted them immeadiately in the morning (thursday afternoon, evening in CZ) , he could have already be on plane yesterday evening in America, which would by thursday/friday night here, and as we speak now he could be already in Czech Rep. or somewhere in the afternoon, evening.

He could have rest for the rest of today, maybe skate tommorow morning and even play in the evening. Or at least the sunday game he could have made without problems. Damn Pasta and Krejci in 2018 flew one day morning to WCH location and played that evening against Russia, so why not.

As for his quality, I stand by what I said, that he is 100% better then those three I mentioned.

This 'must be here for Czech games' thing is a bit silly anyways. The EHT is not a meaningful way to build a Skoda winner. Not one guy from Canada or US has even had a practice.

Yeah thats the Czech/European (or dont know how it works in Finland, Sweden) stupid presumption that european leagues are superior to AHL and therefore AHL players must be tested, because its expected they wont be as good as euro players. Which is not true of course.

I think AHL is third best league after NHL and KHL, its on par with finnish and swedish league, maybe even slightly better. So if Galvas is producing and being praised of how he plays in AHL, then there is really a big chance he is better then sluggish Jordan or Scotka and therefore he can easily go straight to WCH. Same for Kulich, if a 19yrs old guy is playing like he is playing in AHL, then he is damn good already and also probably better then most guys we have in europe.

But our coaches/staff just refuse to see that. And its not just them, this presumption is sadly in the whole hockey community here. Lot of people are always like "dont take everyone from America. This guy barely played in NHL tihs season, only 16 games this year and most of season in AHL, he would not be a boost for the team, our european players are better then him" which is simply NOT true at all lol.

But thats just my opinion on the matter.

I'm the same. We've had so many guys leave the AHL and excel in the Extraliga. Heck, ECHL guys have left and done fine in Extraliga (Safin comes to mind).

Guys like Kovar came over and were put in NHL and couldn't get out. Same with Sklenicka, Moravcik etc.

Our best extraliga goalie, Stezka, is most likely going to play in the AHL next year.

Jordan - AHL
Kundratek - AHL
Knot - AHL
Klok - AHL
Kempny - AHL
Blumel - AHL
Jiricek - AHL
Moravcik - ECHL
Musil - AHL
Masin - AHL
Kovar - AHL
Zamorsky - AHL
Chlapik - AHL
Spacek - AHL
Kaut - AHL
Stransky - AHL
D. Kase - AHL
Langhammer - AHL
If Hrubec came to NA, he'd be in the AHL too!

Our returning AHL guys usually do very well in Europe. Frk will be next (and he skipped right over the extraliga) and, unfortunately, so will Galvas (hoping the rumour is not true).

If a career AHLer like Jenik comes home, he'd be a top 10 scorer probably in Extralga. Teply probably a .ppg. That's the Extraliga.

It just goes on an on. Rutta left Extraliga and played in the AHL... Vejmelka just pulled it off too! That's about it for a decade. Hertl before that.

Kulich has 46 points in AHL
Blumel, who was in our Top 6 on last years team, has 44 points in AHL.

Alright, I feel better.lol

Mirinho said it earlier, Kulich has scoried more goal in AHL then most ouir forwards did in their leagues. I'd just like to think Kari could leave slots open and try them out in practice.

Completely agree, I would say its right move to test the AHL guys against euro guys if you have more of the same type of players and see who will do be better. (assuming AHL guys can make it in time to prep tournaments)

But Kulich and Galvas are cases, which represents two types of players we desperately need this year eg. a pure goalscorer and a quality defender, both we have very few this year. So in my eyes it wouldnt be that risky to take them both straight to WCH. But sadly coach and staff probably sees it diferently.

Great news for Smejkal but I hate it when they say they are going to the NHL. It's a 2 way and nothing is guaranteed (just like Blumel)

Jiri Smejkal Contract, Cap Hit, Salary and Stats - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps

Going on my rant above.. so he's a star in Europe.. we must have him (I agree) over those AHL guys. However, a very strong chance our Euro star is going to the AHL after the World's (just like Blumel, Jiricek and Knot from last year's bronze team).

Sobotka in top 6... Again.lol. Again... I like the guy but he's not top 6 at all for us.

Starting to be the Hrubec show!

Shockingly, our D with one turnover after another.

You can almost see the Kaut has been cut and welcome Vozelnik! It'll be a big mistake but EHT goals are worth more than anything!lol

He's a good commentator.. I enjoyed his interviews yesterday!

Still, I'd much rather him playing in the NHL. Huge loss for our NHL players. And he would've been eligible to come here and probably would've! Captain.

Shame.. yet when I argue about headshots on HF I'm told to watch ballet.lol

Do you watch the Czech or Swedish feed? I'm impressed you watch the EHT... this is my hometown! BRNO.
Czech feed, there was even a commercial with Jags in it.

Gotta go over there for a trip someday, I even have a good friend in Slovakia that I could stay with and then make the short trip.

2-1

Spacek being hurt would suck.. I make no bones about it... one of my fav Czechs of all time.

Heart and soul Cernoch with a goal! HIm and Flek are just identity guys for us. I bet Kari loves them!
Swede D looking a bit 'Czech' in this 2nd.

3-1.........Czechs bringing the heat!!

The tournament is in Prague next year isn't it? I might even make that trip next year, have always wanted to go to the WHC, what better place to take it in?

You are from Brno. Now I understand why you never responded to any of my posts mentioning Prague, my home town (relating to pubs, etc.). I still love all your posts though :)

It is. Sadly there is no way Boston screw up again in the first round and their Czechs are injured again like this year if they do (except Zacha, who excused himself for “personal” reasons and should not be invited again on principle).
