I don't see the reason to make Import draft rankings, considering how random that event is. It's hard enough to predict the NHL draft, CHL Import one is literal shot in the dark.

That being said, I appreciate the work, clearly you had to put in effort and time. And for what it's worth, I agree that Jecho might be the type of player that could benefit from playing in the CHL. His main issue currently is quickness of play and with smaller rinks + higher competition, he would be forced to improve in that area.

Well I guess every CHL team that will want to improve his roster and make a clear decision on who to draft and who not to draft, must make his own draft list / ranking.

The CHL Import although it may seems a little hazardous process, teams that have a clearer strategy to attract the proper players who can fit his own organization will likely get the most out of it and not spent 2K$ on players who would not report.

With that being said, you can still draft the Miro, Halttunen or Jicirek of this World, but if they won't show up in the end it doesn't help your case and you stand still.

By making a ranking like this one on players with higher % of reporting, this is the best way to get th most out of this ''hazardous'' but still valuable draft (IMO).

Assuming "Miro" is Miroshnichenko? If so, he wanted to go to the USHL in 2020 but for some reason didn't get his visa. He was picked in both the 2021 and 2022 import drafts because he always wanted to go to North America but in the end it didn't work out. I don't really think he was a "let's just take a swing" type pick.

The same goes for Jiricek. When Spokane drafted him, nobody even knew his name. He was never a highly touted prospect. But he didn't report because of Covid and then his career took off in Czechia.

The point being, teams do their best to prepare. It's not as much about percentages but rather about working with agents you trust and them telling you if their guys will report. But even then, it's far from a sure thing, because visa issues, pandemics and pro contracts can always screw things up.

I don't think Jiricek ever expressed his interest to actually come over. He got some Extraliga action in his D-2 year already.

Yes Miro is Miroshnichenko....!

And he got drafted twice by two QMJHL teams (Bathurst & Blainville) and I can assure you he would have never report to those teams despite the covid situation.

If so, he would not have fall to being drafted 24 and 43.

And just to better understand your post, your overall point is what actually ?

(Listed alphabetically)

I based this on several factors including but not limited to performance (duh), participation in international tournaments, chances of/commitment to playing pro/NCAA next season, and whether the player's agent tends to send their clients to the CHL.

Since it is very hard to predict which 19 year olds (2004s) and Swedes/Finns will come overseas, I've decided to mostly omit them. Cheers!

Keep your eyes on Jakub Dvorak. 6’5 d man second round pick to the kings. I expect the kings will want him playing in the chl because it’s closer and a better development league than their u20 Czech league.

Hope he falls to kingston #10 but I definitely see him being taken early

He’s already a Swift Current pick from last year.

I’m sure he won’t give up his sources, but just out of curiosity…. Who does one talk to to obtain a list with this many players? Did he talk to every single agent in attendance and they just offered the information?

No problem i have

Ustinkov has decided to stay in Zürich and will not report to the CHL if drafted.
