Frankies a great guy, but literally every year he gets injured, which at best forces the starter to play too many games and risk their own injury or burn out.

And anything less than the best case scenario on that really sucks. Hard to understand why they keep rolling the dice.

He needs to go. Halak, Elliott, and Dell are all still available.

Either find a team to take him on for "future considerations" or stash him in the AHL and use whatever savings on one of those three guys. At least they won't be perpetually injured even if they are downgrades.

Francouz got them through the WCF (albeit Edmonton didn't put up much of a fight). That alone made his contract worth it, but safe to say he shouldn't be back when his contract expires in the summer.
That extension kicked in after the cup run, he's played a grand total of 16 games so far under that new contract...Not to mention he really didn't look good when he did play last year, have a feeling all the injuries are catching up to him.

Yeah Frank's body is about as fragile as it gets. Sad, because when he is fully healthy, he had some talent. That said, counting on Holm (who I actually quite like) and Annunen is not ideal. Even if it is only 20-25 games, you ideally want to be at least .500 in those.

I wonder if there’s a defenceman PTO coming.

Seems like there’s more extra camp bodies at forward then there is at defence. Olofsson, Kiviranta, Holland, Maenalanen, Polin, and perhaps Foudy are all going to provide some competition for the 13th forward spot.

Seems like on defence it’s basically between MacDermid, Malinski, and Hunt for the 7D slot. Could use an extra camp body.

With Kinkaid gone, Avs don’t even have a 3rd goalie right now. Don’t think they can go into season with injured Francouz and Annunen as the back up

If Frankie is injured, who’s the 3rd goalie? That’s of course if Annunen is even a capable back up which is also a question mark
It'll likely be Holm. I could see a Meloche/Bibeau sort of deal for that 3 spot. The natural Avs tendency is to project their top players at a position over time into the lineup. Whether or not they can or are ready for it. They have Annunen penciled in to the backup role after Frankie's contract anyway, so odds are they will try that first if Frankie is not ready to go. As we know it today, Frankie is not out for the season so Avs won't likely make a full season move.

The thing is, the backups out there, suck.

Francouz is actually still solid when he plays. It’s easier to manage injures to a backup goalie, because at the end of the day, they’re not playing a whole lot anyways. You could realistically give Francouz a month, or month and half off to start the year without a lot of issue.

The Avs don’t have a single back-to-back in October and the schedule doesn’t really get busy until November 7th.

Annunen is at the age range where you need to make a decision on his future pretty soon. You can give him a few starts if Francouz is out for a while and the schedule is not condensed to start the year, so Georgiev is going to play a lot anyways.

True and his salary is too high, I mean his stats are good but not reliable. We need someone who is healthy and goodish.

Aim to pay the second goaltender 1mil.

He also lost us series in another year. I doubt he was fit though, he looked that bad.
