Yeah he's not the kind of player the Avs like to acquire.
That doesn't mean that he doesn't suck. We don't need a 3rd string goalie, we need a backup. We already have a 3rd goalie.

Tampa is about to find out the hard way that JoJo isn't a #2.

Frankie won a playoff series (not single-handedly) during the cup run. I really can't see management trading him. They might LTIR him but I get a sense the Avs won't trade him. I think CMac will stay patient and pick up someone from waivers.

ya don't pay assets for a goalie right now, unless it's a 5th round or later for a guy you like. There are plenty available and the waiver wire will be where you get one. Lyon is another option as DET will likely run with Husso - Reimer

Yep, unless you can get rid of Francouz or MacDermid's contract for a goalie. But that's super unlikely.

Well at least Hejduk only stuck around for another five or six years.
I wasn’t advocating for trading Hejduk, that was someone else. He was only 25 or something at the time.

I did want them to blow it up and completely rebuild though, and that included moving older players, including Sakic.

I remember you did. Although in silence I agreed with your idea/vision, just the idea of seeing Sakic (my favorite NHL player at the time) on another team made me sick. lol

I actually wanted to trade Hejduk after Sakic retired. I really wanted to see what it would look like if he was playing wing for Crosby.

I think there were rumors of him going to Washington to play with Ovi. In the end, I remember him stating he wanted to stay as the thought of him being traded as a rental was "cheesy" in his eyes. Got to respect that for sure.

Really like the flexibility the Tatar signing does for lineup possibilities:

Drouin - MacKinnon - Nichushkin
Tatar - Johansen - Rantanen
Lehkonen - Colton - Wood
Cogs - Meyers - OC

Drouin - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Lehkonen - Johansen - Nichushkin
Tatar - Colton - Wood
Cogs - Meyers - OC

Drouin - MacKinnon - Nichushkin
Lehkonen - Johansen - Rantanen
Tatar - Colton - Wood
Cogs - Meyers - OC

The Avs now have two guys in Colton and Tatar who can move up to play onto the 2nd line. Lehkonen on the 3rd line with Wood, and Colton would be nasty. I don’t see Bednar doing it though. He loves Lekhonen and I don’t see him reducing his minutes.

I think the third options is the most likely with the exception of the fourth. I think meyers gets sent down and cogs plays in the middle.

Olofsson/kiviranta - cogliano - O’Connor

I’d like for us to sign one of Kiviranta or Maenalanen to a league min deal. Create even a little more depth. Then Olofsson can get sent down. Highly doubt he would get claimed. But yea the goalie situation will need to be solved at some point if Annunen or Holm can’t hack it. Don’t want Georgiev burning out.

As much as Mikko probably wants to play with Lehkonen, I think I would prefer Tatar on the 2nd line with Johansen and Rantanen while Lehkonen plays on a shit disturbing 3rd line with Wood and Colton.

The 3rd line is likely where Lehkonen’s game is best suited. If he gets taken off PP1 and plays 3rd line his offensive numbers will drop off. As long as Drouin and RyJo replace that production I’m more than okay with that if it gives us an elite 3rd line.

That would potentially be the best 3rd line in the league.
