Probably better if they just LTIR Franky all year in Colorado and then bring in a cheaper replacement. Gives them more LTIR space for injury callups and more options during the playoffs if needed.

If trade prices are too high, there will likely be a decent backup or two on waivers early in the season. There always is.

I personally believe we can't have Georgiev getting 98% of the starts anymore and Annunen just needs to work on his game as a starter in the AHL. I would go after Raanta, Comrie, Vladar (if Wolf steals his spot), Montembeault, Lankinen (if Askarov steals his spot), Daccord, or one of the Vegas goalers if Lehner is healthy before going after Quick or Halak.

I'm a Francouz guy and believe I was vindicated in my support for him when he helped the Avs win a Cup (he absolutely did, don't try to go BS revisionist history) but it's time to find a new back up. The ankle stuff was a fluke but at this point it's all adding up and the injury prone label applies.

I think big issue here is we simply don’t know really anything about the extent of his rehab and how long he’s expected to miss.

LTIR is fine until he comes back. And who’s going to want to trade for an injured goalie?

If the Avs added DeSmith and wither traded Frank in the deal or simply put him on LTIR, that would give them just enough cap flexibility thay they could waive/demote MacDermid to the AHL and be able to carry a full 23 man roster as well, fwiw.

Drouin - Mack - Nuke
Lehky - RyJo - Mikko
Wood - Colton - Tatar
Cogs - Pavel - LOC
Meyers

Toews - Makar
Byram - Manson
Girard - Johnson
Hunt - Malinski

George
DeSmith

That roster would have $100k in LTIR space left.

MacDermid might kill someone in AHL and go to prison because they fight a lot in that league and we don’t want that. Although that would free up about a mill in cap space. What are the rules in the NHL and cap if a player goes to prison? Is it the same as LTIR?

Edit: LTPR, long term prison reserve

Here we are again with Frank. I been saying for years now he cant be relied upon. I like him. I think hes a great teammate and by all accounts seems like a good person. I would let him do my taxes but I wont pay him to be my back up.
