We're getting Zucker @50% at the deadline, not DeBrusk. I think the ship has sailed there, he's way too expensive now, should have traded for him back when he was disgruntled with the Bs

Tatar is a left winger isn't he? And we are stacked there. Much prefer a right winger and/or veteran 4C coming in.

Kucherov missed an entire year, came back 1st game of the playoffs he didn’t miss a beat. It depends on an athlete. I think Landy will adjust well missing 2 years. His game is not based on speed and skill like MacKinnon. He can be his power forward self as long as everything goes well with his knee recovery
He didn't miss an entire year. He missed the lockout shortened 2021 season which was like 4 months. Not even remotely comparable to 2 years.

You know it's going to happen. Landeskog is going to get inserted for the opening faceoff of Game 1 and he's going to immediately drop the gloves just to set the damn tone.

And just when it seems that he's losing the fight, suddenly the announcer gasps "Bah gawd, that's EJ's music!" And Erik Johnson rips off his Sabres jersey, revealing an Avs one, and jumps into the scrum screaming "Say it aint so! I will not go! Turn the lights off! Carry me home!"

And then we win the Cup again

My point is, not every athlete is the same. Someone could miss 2 seasons, come back and never regain his form again, another one could come back and regain form quickly. Landy strikes me as someone who would regain his form quickly based on type of game he plays and determination. Again, if his knee is good.

You're making a terrible point then. Two years versus 4 months, and two surgeries versus one surgery, and one extremely high risk surgery... is an absolutely massive difference. And then your just making an assumption based on absolutely nothing at all at the end that Landy will just magically be great straight away.

Edit: If you want to make a good possible comparable for someone who missed considerable time and still came back elite, Mario Lemieux is the one. But then, Landeskog isn't Lemieux either.

There's probably like a 90% chance he comes back and is a combination of extremely rusty and also simply not as effective anymore because of the nature of the surgery he had to get. But if you want to hold onto the small chance that things work out best case scenario for him by all means go ahead. Just don't think it's going to be a likely scenario or anything.

Easy. Drouin would have to switch sides.

Lehkonen- Mackinnon- Drouin
Tatar- Johansen- Rantanen
Nichushkin- Colton- Maenalanen
Wood- Cogliano- O'Connor

Two dynamic scoring top lines and two absolute nightmare lines to play against.

Nachos- Meyers, Olofsson, Kiviranta, MacDermid

The fact is no one knows what’s gonna happen. I’m mostly going by what I think and what I hope for. I can’t say for certain Landy will come back and be great again, just like how you can’t say for certain he won’t. My gut instinct says he’ll recover quickly if the knee heals properly and doesn’t bother him

Sure we can't know for certain... You can't know anything in the future for certain. All we can do is predict the future based on history and prior precedent. And prior precedent heavily favors a slow, rusty return for Landy. Doesnt mean hes going to be useless. But expecting anything more than a 3rd line level player out of the gates would be being extremely optimistic beyond the reasonable expectations.

I mean that’s fair. I’ll take Landy coming back for any role. Top 6 or 3rd line.

Landy didn't just miss 2 seasons.

He missed:
Second half of 2021-22
Entire 2022-23
Entire 2023-24

That's 2.5 years...while he's in his 30's and his body had a lot of mileage already.

Some of you better lower your expectations.

Setting the tone by immediately injuring himself, with the rest of the team following shortly after and we will all continue to f***en hate this team.

Thread 'Zach Parise not coming to Islanders camp but not retiring' Speculation: - Zach Parise not coming to Islanders camp but not retiring

Apparently he isn't going to Isles or retiring.

Wouldn't be suprised to see him as a Devil again or a Ranger. Wish he'd come here though.
I was just looking to see where Bonino went and it was the Rangers -- I'd be surprised if they took on another pensioner. Devils, I have no idea. I'm not sure why he'd want to be on the east coast, he has a lot of ties to Minnesota. Anything can happen once camps start and cuts and injuries happen.
