Sure, but what I am saying is if the greats of yesteryear at centre switched to the wing, I don't know that Stanley Cup wins would change all that much.
You’re presenting a chicken vs egg argument. But it goes against how teams are built and coached through all levels.

You mean Mikko is gonna be hilarious when this thread walks in free agency?
Yes

It was based on the discount comment he made a few years ago and hopium. Still… he got paid. Rants will too. He won’t take a large discount. May get a half to a mil off with an 8th year. And I’m sure someone would pay him 13.5-14 as a ufa.

I forget if I publicly posted what my expectations for the contract were, but I will believe to my dying day that MacK takes significantly less if we don't win that Cup.

I don't believe the game and league are as stringent on positions as the argument for centre depth is. Positionless hockey has become almost as prevalent as positionless basketball.

Then tell me wtf Mikko's problem is with just being wrote down as the 2C? Damn.. he might actually be worth as much as Mack then..

He's definitely behind Kucherov, I think with wingers he stands on an island of his own. I think Rantanen and Pastrnak are close, but goal scoring is valued and Pastrnak is still better on that front. Will be interesting to see what Mikko does this season, does he follow up scoring 50? If that's his new level, there's a better argument to be made of taking him before Pasta, because of his board play.
His insane vision and passing get underrated too

MacFarland on Landeskog:

“He’s going to miss the regular season, and then I wouldn’t bet against Gabriel Landeskog in anything. If there’s somebody that’s going to deal with what he’s dealing with, with the right attitude and determination, it’s him. He’s our Viking.”

So a playoff return, perhaps? Maybe, maybe not.

“We’re hoping,” MacFarland said. “There’s still so much that needs to be gleaned in this so it’s hard to put a timeline on it.”

Landy back, trade for DeBrusk at the deadline, Playoff lineup:

DeBrusk - Mack - Nuke
Lehky - RyJo - Mikko
Landy - Colton - Wood
LOC - Meyers - Cogs

With Drouin and Kovalenko as 1st injury replacements.

Would also likely need a 4C but IMO that's a forward group deep enough to win the cup again. Obviously still need a lot of things to go our way between now and April however for this to even be a possibility.
