JMFJ is just such a good fit us. We have the studs to shelter him from needing to be offensive but he has some of those skill sets thats kept him in the league for a million years.

I mean... He's a good fit for us in the sense that we're probably the only team in the league that can make him look serviceable at times.

We would certainly be better off with a better player over him as the #6. Keep in mind this guy has genuinely been one of the very worst Dmen in the entire league the last ~5 years when not playing for us.

Georgiev was awful with the Rangers but has been great for us.

I don't give a f*** what JMFJ has been elsewhere, he's a great #6 for us. Exactly what you want in terms of experience, ability and cost.

Georgie gets all the games in October, and prosvetov gets all the work with Parkkila

Yeah, you have to think what you can get for one mil. He is decent for that price.

Some people had their hopes up that Byram would take a big step and play like a top pairing guy already.

He still needs a lot of time to get experience playing NHL games and he's not getting as many offensive looks (rightfully so since Makar exists) in favourable situations. He's forcing things now which is maybe trying to live up to a big contract. He'll settle in at some point.

For all the problems with developing those middling forwards like Newhook and Jost they've done a great job bringing out the best of young defenders.

I don't think Bo needs much more time. I think he just needs to be put in a role where he can play his game, and that gives him a chance to succeed.

So far in his career he's been the odd man out in a lot of circumstances and forced to play roles that don't suit him.

They defer to Toews and Girard over him on the PP, even though Bo is clearly better IMO. The only way he got any real time was with 3 D on the power play. They make hm play the defensive anchor role to someone like Girard, which stifles his transition game, and puts him in some tough spots defensively. And now this year they have him playing on his off side where he's not as good, and has to make a lot of breakout passes on his backhand.

They need to just pair him with a defensive anchor like Manson or JJ on the right side, and let him play his game, so they can see what they have.

Spot on. You can’t blame the Avs because they do have Makar but Byram would have been better served getting drafted by a team that actually needed a #1 D and PP1 quarterback.

I would have asked for a trade a while ago if I was Bo.

Agreed , he needs more opportunity now. His confidence and offensive game is being stagnated bigtime and it's a shame.

Always thought he was going to have a solid NHL career, everything seemed to be there especially the high-end skating.

I would have asked for a trade a while ago if I was Bo.

Surely an exaggeration?

He's a top 4 D on a juggernaut of a team and has a Stanley Cup ring. At 22 years of age.

I’m sure he’s enjoyed being on a competitive team. But now, having a ring (and Toews extended) would only motivate me to ask for a trade - he’s already won and the Avs top pairing is set for years. Now he needs to focus on maximizing his potential and earning as much money as he can.

That will always be limited in Colorado playing #3 D at best with zero meaningful PP time and now forced to play on his offhand.

IMO Chicago f***ed Bo and themselves not taking him 3rd OA. Byram was a perfect fit for them and they badly needed a future #1D. Bowman is a moron. Who knows how things would have played out but Bedard and Byram would have been one hell of a rebuild.

Remember all those Rangers fans coming to our board warning us he was a headcase and he would alienate the dressing room immediately?
Rags were in a bad situation. They had 2 number one goalers. Good job for Georgie to request a trade so that now he can be a number one goaler for the Avs. Hope we can afford to resign him.

I mean, guys - I'm reading criticism of Byram from some, Girard from others, J. Johnson from a few.

Rather than all that, how about as a defensive core (and I mean by FAR the best in the NHL), they are dominating !!

4 games in, 4 goals against (GAA of 1 !!!).

I honestly hope we see VERY little movement in the roster (we've already seen heaps this offseason), because this is a Stanley Cup winning team top to bottom.

Take that one to the bank.

I'm with you man. This roster is setup from top to bottom.

Man I love these answers. They mean absolutely nothing. ****"""** nothing.

He's been performing great so far.

Saving grace I'd say, he's made Manson's job easier and is still pushing the pace not letting the pair be a black hole.

JMFJ is just such a good fit us. We have the studs to shelter him from needing to be offensive but he has some of those skill sets thats kept him in the league for a million years.

He was originally an OFD, knocked for his ability to play defense. Basically his entire career with the Kings he was EK but didn't score that much.

His inability to play a two way game absolutely killed his ability to be a #1D, in the inverse EJ couldn't score enough to be a true #1.

How long before Byram's camp demand a trade? He's potentially losing millions by not getting better opportunities offensively.

Not even 1mil, but 775k. Barely above league minimum.
$775k IS league minimum. It went up from $750k this year.

Note that there are still some guys with a $762.5k caphit which is lower than the minimum, but that's because it's the average salary across two years where their salary last season was $750k and then $775k this year.
