I don’t think we have to worry about Drouin producing. He was still on a 40 point pace on a dumpstar fire team. Next to MacKinnon he’s getting at least 60.

There is literally no chance he scores 60 considering he never has in his career.

I get the optimism but let's get real here for a second.

I think we should be guessing how many games he plays. Bot how many points he scores.

To get a better sense of minor penalties taken vs minor penalties drawn, we can use JFresh's percentile data:

Colton: 86% (draws much more than he takes)
Wood: 41% (involved in a lot of incidents but more or less evens out)
Johansen: 1% (ooof, this is the one I worry about, suggests there are a ton of lazy penalties in his game)
1%?!? that's crazy! So he never draws penalties?

The best reverse jinxes are when you really don't mean it, well done.

He's never played with a player as good as MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Makar in his career either (save for his Tampa days which was very brief).

Talk about moving the goalposts to suit your argument.

It's not like he played with three of the best players of our generation for three years in Stamkos, Kucherov and Hedman. Oh wait....

I just realized it's too bad that EJ went to Buffalo instead of Anaheim, would've given me a reason to buy 30th anniversary jersey.

The questions with Drouin come down to will his good stretches outweigh his bad stretches of play and will Bednar tolerate the bad enough to let him play through it.

If it gets to a point where Bednar cannot trust him on the ice, the experiment will be over quickly.

Based on those highlights I just watched, I expect good things from Drouin. The boy can pass the puck, and who better to pass to than MacK and Mikko

Mikko needs to play with RyJo...otherwise we'd have Nuke and Lehky on the 2nd line and it doesn't work.

Didn't in Tampa really either, Stamkos isn't on that level, mostly because of injuries, but hes not, and Kucherov wasn't someone he played with much if I remember right. Headman, maybe, but again Drouin didn't get premium ice time at really any point. So that's not likely either.

Hey man. Keep telling yourself anything you need to trick yourself into thinking Drouin will make any impact at all.

I doubt he lasts 20 games under Bednar. That or he gets injured. He is this years version of Alex Galchenyuk. Nothing more.

Colton- Mackinnon- Nichushkin
Lehkonen- Johansen- Rantanen

That should be our top 6. Drouin has done nothing to deserve a top 6 role nevermind being the LW1

Does depth production not count for anything?

Because I think it’s really unlikely he doesn’t provide at least that. And the Avs absolutely would’ve killed for that last season.

The only players really worth anything on Montreal last year were Suzuki and Caufield and Drouin barely played with either of them. He’s going to a much better situation.

If he can pop in 50 points and play on the second power play unit that would be great for Colorado.

He never play in nhl with the second best player.

Of course production counts but wishing he can score 50 points is wishful thinking because that would mean he would have to stay healthy and play all 82 which is something he hasn't ever done especially in the last 4 years.

He never play in nhl with the second best player.

He will have to stay healthy for a full season to actually be able to play with that player.

Some people make it sound like Drouin needs to carry this team or something. The Avs won the division with bunch of AHLers playing on top 2 lines because of injuries. Little bit of depth scoring is exactly what this team needs. They don’t need Drouin to score tons of points

What AHL'ers are you talking about because I don't remember that.
