You see what I mean, that’s a promise for 2.000 messages during the summer, I already see the anxiety growing, it’s worth the pain

The anxiety wouldn't be about wanting him back, it would be about how badly it would F the team.

Maybe there's a cheat code where if you edit the opposing goalie to make them Dan Cloutier, you can punch them in the balls.

I think Drouin will be so good, the forum will die in anxiety about the worth of his next contract :D

Oh god... if he by some miracle has a great season, for the love of everything holy DO... NOT... RE...SIGN... HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know they will

Yea this isn't like eRod...if Drouin does well next to Mack all year they'll likely find a way to keep him.

God, even I was kind enough not to bring that shit up.

At least we know they'll let people go Mack likes, or Barrie might still be here.

I bet if he's good they do bring him back, but only if Landy doesn't return. They won't be able to afford him if Landy comes back.

If Landy returns they certainly can't afford him, but even if Landy doesn't... the numbers may just not be there.

Drouin will get the Burakovsky treatment from Bednar.

Burky brought a lot of good things to the table, but Bednar benched him when the team had the lead sometimes because he turned the puck over at the worst times and was bad defensively.
Can't wait to see how Bednar deals with Drouin, Wood and RyJo.

I like your Drouin and Bura comparison.

I think RyJo will be the new JTC, which means that he can do no wrong in the eyes of the coach and will always get a pass regardless.

Wood with his stupid ass offensive zone penalties should get the NAK treatment (short leash) but since he's signed for 6 f***ing years he can't really do that.

Would be the most HFAvs thing ever, if this forum went from talking endless shit about Drouin sucking, to bitching and moaning about CMac not re-signing him.

The Avs will have no choice, but this forum will go crazy

I mean even if Drouin has a good season it's not like he's going to be a 5M/year guy next year. If he has any kind of success the whole league will attribute it to playing with Mack anyway.

I don't think he can make more than like 3.5M on the open market next season regardless of how many points he has this year.

If Landy doesn't come back the Avs will need another top 6er and if Drouin has a good season the Avs will keep him.

Is there any hope Landy could come back for the playoffs, I thought he was out for 15 months, not to say there was no hope to recover at all anyway.

So quite surprised to see so many fans hoping for him to come back in March

It shouldn’t be expected… but Avs and Landy were very clear about regular season.

I just hope the PK is damn good this season, cause with RyJo and Wood added to the team, they're likely to be on the PK two to three more times every game than they were last season, and on the PP less times.

Oh god. The hot takes in here are golden.

Be prepared for 300+ PIMs from Wood and Johansen lol

The issue with Drouin isn't that he isn't a good gamble, he's an excellent, no risk high reward gamble.

The thing is it seems like a lot of people (including management?) forget that he is a gamble and pencil him on the top line like he's sure to play well and stay healthy. He hasn't played well or stayed healthy in 4+ years.

If he can't make the top 6 then who's going to replace him in the top 6? Colton?

If Colton isn't playing on the 3rd line that means that our bottom 6 is utter garbage again.
Bingo!

I think people underestimate just how big a leash Drouin will have on this team.

We know Bednar has zero tolerance for laziness/soft play but this is different. MacKinnon personally requested this guy on the team AND Drouin took a super low money deal to be here.

He is going to be given so many opportunities to figure it out with 29. They will swap out Nichushkin/Rantanen/Lehkonen/etc on the line with those two before moving Drouin.

One other thing is Drouin showed up out at training camps way of shape in the past (at over 200 lbs)

I hope he trained hard this summer.
He just hasn't been addicted to chickpeas and Nate's other secret ingredients.

Yeah we all like to talk about how fast or what pace this team plays at but its vastly overrated. They have some fast players who use their speed on occasion to get chances on the rush. But do the math, if you aren't MacK quick you still get down the ice maybe 3 feet behind him unless your anticipation and play reading is terrible.
