Shocker.

And to be fair, so was Newhook. This board was was flabbergasted at what Newhook brought in, everyone was quick to praise cMac but maybe Newhook was just highly thought of around the league.

I still think the only way the Avs trade Byram is if he asks for it or a team does something absolutely stupid.

If they trade him, it'll hopefully be for a Cozens-type young C. But I still think G is the one that will get shipped off.

I'm right there with you. I think the only way Girard stays in Colorado is as insurance because some GM did something stupid to get Byram. Clearly a very solid future 2C isn't enough.

The only people who have given up on Byram as a top pair defenseman are the geniuses on HFBoards.

Byram should have high value. He already shown how good he can be in the Avs cup run. He’s still a young 22 year old d-man who’s having couple of down years. He’s gonna be just fine

It all sounds like Friedman doing his normal inject Avs into any big rumor.

Byram most certainly has good value. He's on the clock to start showing more in the NHL, but he could struggle the rest of the year and still have good value this summer. Now next season if he struggles the first half to the deadline, the narrative and value will change. Struggling at 23 and in the last year of a bridge deal is very much different than struggling right after an ELC.

With all of this, why doesn't Drysdale also have good value though? He was the 6th pick vs 4th pick... nearest makes no difference. Unlike Byram, he has a full healthy season under his belt where he put up over 30 points and was a 20 minute guy a game as a rookie. He's dealt with injuries the past two seasons (so has Byram), but when he's played he's looked very good. He's a right shot which adds value. People are acting like Drysdale also doesn't have have top pairing potential and is a scrub here... when his resume is very similar to Byram. I think there is a difference, but they are not in different universes.

I think people also are underrating Gauthier. He's not perfect, but he's definitely a top 10 prospect not in the NHL. An argument can be made he's a top 3 not in the NHL guy.

The Avs being in every rumour for the "insiders" is getting old. They've had the Avs linked and basically guaranteed to get Hall, Giroux, Kane, etc and none of it ever is true.
When you're going for clicks... find a top team who has a hole, then just:

Like stated previously, LeBrun is the only one of the current insiders who has any sort of taps inside our organization. The others just speculate like the rest of us here.
Yup... and he's the guy pushing Monahan the most...
