Maybe the real acquisition on defense this offseason are the new rails on the 200 level

Ducks need to cancel any association with this piss poor run organization. I don't want any Angels bad mojo wearing off on the Ducks. At least until Arte is no longer around.
Agreed. Zero ties until Arte is gone. I keep hoping Arte is turning 90 soon so it won't be much longer but he is still only 77.

Is McT 5'9 or 5'10?

It does look like he's shrinking!

Vatrano is listed at 5'11, Dostal is 6'1, Killorn is 6'1, Jones is 6'3, and McTavish is supposed to be 6'0. Granted, Vatrano is standing closer to the camera than Mac, but still. On the bright side for Mac is he's looking swole. Mac looks like he's got the biggest calves and forearms in the group. He's got all those veins popping out like an Arte Moreno billboard!

I definitely think Jones could be a dark horse to score 15-20 goals. Fingers crossed
As a role player, I think he could thrive in a deep roster. Our forward lines are pretty deep tbh, so I have my hopes as well. Just hope we will be able to get out of our zone with that blueline

13 minute mark for Zegras and Drysdale talk.

-Drysdale is 2 years away from arbitration instead of 1 because of last year. Heavily hampers his leverage in negotiation.
-Friedman mentions Jeff Solomon is one of the toughest negotiators in league history. Verbeek no slouch either.
-Friedman worries Ducks might take it too far with both players. Wonders if they might take the negotiation process personally as he did early on in his career. (sounded like projection to me)
-Marek mentions how things went down to the wire with Terry and thinks that might be the case here. Wouldn't be surprised if both players signed just prior training camp.
-Friedman says with a new coach coming in that organizations tend to want all players at camp so things start off on the right foot.

A new Stephens article on the Athletic. It's more of a "look into the Ducks' center position" than analysis. I thought he could have share more of the advanced metrics instead of giving one sentence on it. Fantilli's name is brought up, yet again. It's nothing that we don't already know on this board, for the most part, but it's still help kill time until Ducks hockey starts this weekend.

From the sounds of it, Terry's negotiations were tough but cordial, which is exactly what you'd want.

Again, I guess I wasn't the only person concerned about this. But hey, let's give Z and Drysdale short bridge contracts and do this over again with key players in a few years and pay even more.

Would you give Drysdale an 8 year contract right now? He is coming off a lost season and has some glaring holes in his game.

Not that it means much, but I found it a little surprising that Grant outscored Lundestrom even with 15 fewer games played last season. He had fewer offensive zone starts too.

Drysdale hasnt earned anything yet. Hate to say it this way but right now hes nothing but hype and potential. Hes an absolute bridge deal.

Zegras has no reason to sign long term right now. The organization would be slapping guys like Terry in the face if they gave Zegras something like $9mil +, also setting a bad precedence for future contract negotiations. Zegras is in a position to bet on himself, so unless you want to massively overpay him right now just for the sake of locking him up, its likely not worth it. Zegras is in the drivers seat to a large degree. So even though it might be best for the team to sign him to a long term deal, its really up to Zegras and his demands. If he wants crazy money, you bridge him.
