Try to understand that toughness can mean different things to different people.Verbeek called him a tough physical player along with Nesterenko. That leads me to believe Cronin insisted on Kassia

Also, I highly doubt Cronin insisted on getting a player like Kassian, that’d be asinine.Try to understand that toughness can mean different things to different people.
In what way are Nesterenko and Mcginn considered tough. Go ahead explainTry to understand that toughness can mean different things to different people.

He didn't call Nesterenko tough, you invented that to feed your various fetishes. He said he was competitive and improved his willingness to go to the dirty areas. He didn't really call McGinn tough either, although he called him gritty which is a reasonable stand-in for toughness and I presume you can understand why that is, and again just choose not to.In what way are Nesterenko and Mcginn considered tough. And that equals to him fighting to sign Kassian how?In what way are Nesterenko and Mcginn considered tough. Go ahead explain

He obviously wants an enforcer and please tell me who was left other than AHL enforcer? Verbeek obviously is not pro enforcer. And that equals to him fighting to sign Kassian how?
You’re right. I just am blind to it all. And when I think “enforcer” Kassian is right up thereHe obviously wants an enforcer and please tell me who was left other than AHL enforcer? Verbeek obviously is not pro enforcer.
Well that is very strange, after all the talk between Verbeek and Cronin and how they understood each other from the get-go, and had several hours long interviews/meetings, now all of a sudden they are not on the same page.He obviously wants an enforcer and please tell me who was left other than AHL enforcer? I feel ya Wild Wing...
At least this is the last slow week. We get rookie camp/tournament news next week.

Ranking the top 20 Calder Trophy candidates for the 2023-24 NHL season
The Athletic's Scott Wheeler and Harman Dayal list the top Calder Trophy candidates from the NHL's talented incoming rookie class.theathletic.com
Leo listed at 7 and Zell at 9. Dostal, LaCombe, and Mintyukov honorable mentions.
I think #7 about what I expected. More surprised Zellweger cracked the top 10. I get the hype, but he's going to have to beat out a lot of guys on one-way deals just to make the team. He'll probably get called up to fill in for injuries here and there, but I think 2024-2025 will be his time to shine.#7 huh? That’s higher than I expected he would be rated.

I could see Leo's treatment being similar to McTavish's. Obviously a lot depends on Cronin's approach. That's the biggest unknown heading into next season for me. There isn't much we can go on other than his interviews (which have me cautiously optimistic). There is a lot of question marks with Leo. I expect him to be like a bottle of fine wine and will get better with age. He is not going to come out flying like Zegras did. Plus he may not even stick full time with the Ducks. So folks are going to question the Ducks 2ndOA pick.
But if he stays and gets top PP time, I could see him having a rookie production season similar to McTavish.
Mac is the guy to keep an eye on, between Leo, Z, and Terry being more in the news , McTavish is quietly going into his sophomore season well rested and most likely well prepared.

Agree with you on Mac. I'm expecting him to take a step this season, especially now with a decent forward group supporting him. I'm hoping he can pot 30 goals, which would be double his total from his rookie campaign.
I'm wondering if it was a budgetary reason to keep Brown. Maybe Verbeek didn't want to have to pay for another PP coach when the team isn't competing? I'm assuming assistants are like head coaches in that you have to keep paying them after you fire them unless they get hired somewhere else. I might be wrong on that though.I still wish we got a new PP coach.

Whether it was Brown's call or not, I'll say it was a good move to get Klingberg off the first unit as soon as they did. My main concern are the entries though. When Terry was out, they kept doing that stupid leave behind play and it never worked. There should've been (and always be, for that matter) and alternative just in case plan A is being foiled time and again.
I get that a lot of teams do it and it can work, but you have to have the right personnel for it. The only reason it worked when it did for us was because Terry willed it.It didn't look like they had any faith in that play.

I want Carlsson in a top-6C position. If he isn't a top-6C, then send him to the AHL to be a top-6C.
If Carlsson follows Zegras' path to the NHL, then Carlsson starts the season off at wing at the AHL. The difference now is that Anaheim has two top-6C in Zegras and McTavish. Can Carlsson beat one of them out? If not, then I don't mind Carlsson being a top-6 in San Diego so he can be groomed as a top-6C and create competition at the NHL level.
As for Mac, DuckMyLife (youtube channel) predicts that McTavish will officially have a new number at the STH meet & greet on Sept 17. Mac, Killorn, and Gudas will be in the Team Store at noon.
"As of right now, they're just hanging. No word if they're banging." That's a great TMZ headline!
All the times I've heard about Mac this summer is often working out with a player like Drysdale or Rico. I'm glad he has a proper summer off for his body to recuperate. IMO, I think Mac will be the best player out of all of our prospects/youths in this extended rebuild.
There exists a reality where Carlsson is both ready to play in the NHL and not yet ready to be a top 6 center
