it's easy to attribute the losing streak to being a young team, I'm actually more concerned about the lackluster play of some vets. Specifically Killorn, Fowler, and Terry. Yes, LaCombe is being slotted way over his head, but has the skills to be a good two way D if more appropriately placed. Killorn looks very slow and isn't as physical as I had hoped. Fowler is who he is, a second pairing guy with little or no special teams time on a good team. Terry is lost out there, constantly holding on to the puck and turning it over.
Those three plus Henrique and Silfver. Our veteran core stinks outside of the 2nd line and Gudas and Carrick.

Criticizing Fowler makes some even more touchy.
a big no no on these parts, captain cam does no wrong
He needs a month in San Diego.
I think just playing him in a position to succeed, and earn his mins.

I dont think he really earned that spot as top RHD... i think he just happened to be able to play both, and was the oldest/most mature of our young dmen... when the reality is he should be playing on 2nd or 3rd pairing... and playing with a dmen that better fits his style. Stylistically i think lacombe/fowler is rough

Agreed 100%.... add Henrique to that list tho of vets doing nothing.

LaCombe is technically good enough to be an NHL d-man right now, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t benefit from AHL development time.
Take advantage of the waiver exemption with these young players Verbeek. Let’s see a Zellweger cup of coffee.

Did anyone actually think we had a playoff contending team? This team has evened out to being about what I thought they were. Improved from last year showing continued reasons to be confident in the future core but ultimately still a year or two away from seriously competing for a playoff spot
A year or two would make that almost 10 years of rebuild with no future stud wingers.. Not good

A lot can happen in the next couple years, we could draft one next year, one could emerge from the system, or we could trade for ond
We dont even have much to offer in terms of trade value.

Our most valuable pieces that we could prob move forward without are fowler and gibson which are both almost untradable unfortunately.

Henrique isnt going to bring a ton back for us.

Maybe we can use some picks to get a cap causality type, but our 1st is going to be too high to move this year. We need like a Bjorkstrand type move

We also got to cut some more fat out of the line up like Henrique/Silf/mcginn.... jones is looking better but still need to see some consistency from him.

and we need zegras/drysdale/and lundy back

I mean Terry would be it.. But looks like he has something going on his head.. Something aint right..

I'd like to see some player movement.

Wouldn't mind seeing Zelleweger and Regenda get a look. Need to make some changes before the season becomes a gong show like last year and internal changes seem more PV speed than external at this time.

If they won’t let Mintyukov off the third pairing, Zellweger has no business up there, and we just saw what Lybushkin looks like at that level. It’s either Gudas, or Vaakanainen or Mintyukov get their turn in the barrel.

I mean, we just lost 8-2 and 5-2, It’s probably time to try some different things. I don’t think Zellweger is a savior or anything, I just want to see some different players and combinations.

Killorn is just brutal.

Man took Verbeek to the cleaners.

They didn't miss the playoffs until 2018-19, and the legit rebuild didn’t start until ‘19-20. 10 years of rebuilding isn’t until ‘29-30.

10 years of shit product on the ice is much closer.

I agree, I just think the top pairings need to be the guys already on the roster. I’d like to swap Mintyukov and LaCombe for a game and see if LaCombe really has had his confidence shattered to the point where he needs a demotion to rebuild it vs just needs the easier matchups. Ideally Gudas goes up there, but he’s a bit of a pylon when not actively skating and will necessitate Fowler still play conservatively. I also think Mintyukov could use a trip down for a couple games.

I'll admit, I was a bit suckered into thinking that it may be a possibility given our decent start, but realistically wasn't expecting it quite yet.

However, for a good part of this 6 game losing streak many of those games do not look any better than last year. Guys look completely lost out there with no cohesion/structure. Sure, we're seeing less shots on goal, but when we give up 3 - 6 goals, that doesn't really matter.

I'm honestly still completely dumbfounded at how well this team started the season playing, and how they are playing now. They looks like 2 totally different teams out there. Sure, I didn't expect that pace/all the comebacks to last... but even without those, they still played some pretty good hockey.

Do you think there is some sort of min restriction on Mintyukov by PV? Or restrictions on how he is deployed... i know PV sees this season as a developmental year and i dont think our record bothers him much.

Under Murray towards the end of his tenure we just kind of toiled in mediocrity while he tried to keep retooling the NHL squad. We got swept in the 17-18 playoffs, and Getz/Perry were approaching 33 years old yet we decided to keep the train rolling. Five years later we finally hire Verbeek and basically started the actual scorched earth rebuild that was sorely needed long before that point.

Long story short, this will now be six years of not sniffing the playoffs and we probably have a few more years of ineptitude left before we see any light at the end of the tunnel. As an Angels/Ducks fan times have been very lean :help:
