I mean its weird too, Coots is what we know he is, he's not a 1C, he's a 2nd line shutdown center at this point. He can be that on a championship team, you ask him to be 1C on a playoff team you need to know you're dumb.

What I get from all this is...Torts has cucked Danny and possibly the entire organization

“I've gotten the same answer as you guys. 'Just need to see more.' Still trying to figure out what that is.”

Hits a little different when it’s not a rookie, eh?

This just shows that Torts isn't afraid to do this to anyone on the team. It is building a culture. No one is above the team.

(please pay no attention to all of the players that he doesn't do this shit to)

John Tortorella is a coward with the mental fortitude of a four year old.
Cause I was reminded after reading your post. My earliest memory is probably when I was 3 or 4 and I was crying, laying down on the floor while in the fetal position in the powder room of my aunt's (married into the family) house. IDK why she probably yelled at me cause she's mean. Suffice to say she still is evil and I'm terrified of her.

Arguably the two guys with the most leverage at odds with each other.

Couturier just got paid a ton for a long time & Tortorella is the apple of Jones'/Briere's eye.

Winning culture.

Tortorella is the same guy he was last month, last year, and before he took the job. I'm still mostly angry at the people that not only decided to keep him (Briere), but those that reportedly made it a requirement such that they limited their GM pool to candidates who could handle him.

Like throwing out their own draft board to pass on Bjorkstrand, that's the one that will still mystify me in a few decades. If you don't know those processes are inexcusably awful, you shouldn't have the job. You're not qualified.

Why wouldn’t Couturier be a coach’s favorite? Effort, defense, pita to play against. He seems like he would be a coach’s dream, especially an old school guy like Torts.

JFC , just seeing the interview . Did Briere/Jones force Torts to name him captain ?

That interview is insane, he looks PISSED.

And if you are in a playoff battle and you value Nicky D, Hataway, Cates, Laughton, Poehling over Couts, you need to be fired immediately.

I mean these other spineless f*** players can't be ok with this, they need a full blown revolt against Torts. I mean doesn't super culture leader Laughton want to make the playoffs ?

There definitely is some concern in Couturier’s offensive game at this point. His finishing ability has completely evaporated since his last normal season & that (along with increased ice time/usage) was a big part of his offensive spike prior to these injuries/time off. But the thing not just the injuries & time he’s just at the age where that tends to decline (finishing/shooting usually goes before passing/playmaking). So there’s a lot of trends going against him there.

But the rest of his game is still basically there. He’s still a strong play driver & he still puts up good defensive impacts. I think if you’re expecting the guy from three years ago to walk the through door I’m not so sure that’s realistic anymore. His contract is what it is. So you can keep harping about what he’s not anymore or you can look at what he still does well & make your decisions based around those strengths & weaknesses.
