EJ, Cates and Laughton all -4 , may open some eyes to how awful Torts is.

There’s a reason you ended up with Danny Briere & Keith Jones as your GM & President. There’s a reason Chuck Fletcher didn’t want Tortorella as his head coach & there’s a reason other potential candidates weren’t interested in the job under the condition that they inherit Tortorella with a lot of say in things.

An actual scenario where Fletcher is better than what we now have, how wild is this.

You do get whiplash when you fall out for a while, don't you? I watched a game last week or so, saw Couturier with Deslauriers, and could not figure out for the life of me why no one was talking about it in the GDT. I had to dig to find out it was the 5th (I think) game in a row.

Briere comes across as such a milquetoast. This is the same guy who threw a tantrum in his autobiography about Michel Therrien (who’d he last coach for?) humiliating him at video sessions and practices. Stockholm Syndrome is real, folks.

I think of Hextall who, decades later, was still bitter and enraged that he was made to work his way up to the NHL and thus decided that he would create false obstacles to make prospects have to go through that too.

I mean don’t get me wrong. Fletcher wasn’t good at his job & deserved to be fired but it probably didn’t take much to realize once Scott & the advisors went above your head hiring a head coach like Tortorella it was all over.

Torts has never really outlasted a GM in more than 20 years funnily enough... Rick Dudley is the only one... and Dudley resigned.

Tampa owners fired him after his buddy Feaster would not.
Sather, Gillis, Kekalainen all hired him and fired him.

I am not worried about what Briere says right now with Torts scratching Couturier because he wants to keep the peace. But all this shit going on now is definitely going to lead to some drama when the exit interviews happen then we will see what Briere thinks.

True theory of mine has been Briere doesn't have a choice in the coaching matter since he, undoubtedly, has hated the Godking Emperor since his playing days. I mean he played through prime Torts, surely he has Intel.

Clarke surely has the ultimatum in place that Torts can only be outsted with his approval

That's fine. And I've been wondering about him needing a break since, like...December? November?

But very clearly this has been done with as much disrespect as possible. Couturier has been made to stop playing through injuries and rest for his own good before. He took it well despite chomping at the bit to keep going. This is something else entirely.

As always, the Flyers as an organization (and our fanbase in general, since we will get there) are incapable of having a captain and should never have one again.

Remember, DB and Jones were both hired with the prerequisite of keeping TORTS. It's actually public knowledge. They don't care. And with a good portion of this fanbase, can you blame them?
