The Flyers generally get most of their road games against west coast teams played out around Christmas/New Year’s every year. They have a Disney on Ice event that goes on at the WFC around that time. So I’d imagine they’re usually ahead of most of the league every year in regards to all their western conference games which I guess created this imbalance this year.

The Flyers pretty much play Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, & I guess now Seattle on the road every year seemingly around the holidays.

I hate this fan base so much, a bunch of my friends even said they'd rather make the playoffs this year just to get a taste of it even if it hurts the rebuild....sadly that's the mentality of the majority of this stupid franchises fan base, can never look at it from the bigger picture

Couts: This season, to me, was all about just getting Couts through it without injury. Points, stats, underlying metrics -- they were all secondary. As such, I'm not going to harp on it too much, but the degradation of Couts during this season can't be anything but concerning to the fans and team alike. It's not just his raw points production has dropped, his scoring rate has dropped. I've said this before, his expected offensive metrics aren't great, but he's getting great results anyways -- it's too early to definitively tell what that means. It could just be a blip in the timeline, or it could signify the beginning of aging. All I'll do is re-evaluate at game 40 next season, and see where we are.

I don't know if this is my imagination, but I feel like his strength on the puck isn't quite what it was. Maybe it was better earlier on when I barely watched. His skating mostly seems similar to pre-injury. But so much of his offensive game was puck protecting in the corners to buy time. For a guy coming off double back surgery, it's plausible. As long as he doesn't suffer setbacks, perhaps another offseason of strength building helps. But the reality is he's aging too, and that's going to affect stamina and recovery.

Who could possibly have forseen that, after 2 years of inactivity and multiple surgeries, that throwing him out there night after night for 21 minutes per could cause him to run out of steam in a few months?

I mean sure, I could, you could, any medical professional could, even Stevie Wonder could, but not President Jonesy, Boy Wonder Briere, or the all holy God Emperor.

They are a truly special bunch.

That stretch of games should have come up a month ago. Now they think they should be buyers, trading away assets for rentals, extending bottom pairing vet d for term and boatloads of dollars, only to go something like 4-8 and bow out of the po's in the last week of the season. It's almost as if some higher being wrote a script in late aug that the team management is acting out to the letter.
