Now, I'm 99% sure we're not gonna. Even with the Walker trade, I'm paranoid about this crap... but Buffalo just shipped off a forward for a defenseman, and their interest in Scott Laughton has been mentioned on a number of occasions...

Just to add, TSN wondering what Buffalo is going to do with all their Dmen.

Well finishing out this season should be interesting at least with Seeler out with an injury & Walker traded now on top of Drysdale & Ristolainen out with injury as well.

No choice but to count on Attard & Ginning as well as probably elevating Staal &/or Zamula in the lineup against a really tough upcoming slate.

Not complaining because frankly I don’t care about making the playoffs but this is probably not good on that front. I don’t think any of those four are any good.

Holy mother of god….was looking at the Flyers upcoming schedule and had to chime in with you fine folks here. How was this even allowed to be put together?

What a test for your hardworking group.
There is some wins in there. They always seem to beat teams that are better than they are.
Florida is 25-4-2 in the last 31 games. Should be a piece of cake :sarcasm:

We are a Laughton trade away from a really good deadline. Come on Danny. Get it done. Give me one more first!

Dont know if this is the right thread but i wanted to mention it once!

The Flyers want to rebuild, at least they saying it all the time. Now if we look at the process something is pretty obvious:

They are building a roster without the chance to rebuild anything!

Couts ---> untradeable for 6 years
Atkinson ---> untradeable for next year
TK ---> will not be traded and resigned for 9.x for 8 years
Laughton ---> untradeable cause of CULTURE
Cates ---> worthless in a trade
Deslauriers ---> untradeable for 3 years
Tippett ---> untradeable with this contract, or not worth a lot cause of the cap hit
Sanheim ---> nearly untradeable not worth the possible return
Ristolainen ---> worthless in a trade or untradeable
Seeler---> NTC
Drysdale ---> will not be traded
York ---> will not be traded

Dead Money:

Peterson and Johansen next season: $6,700,000
Hayes and D´Angelo next season: over 5,x

So our trade assets are:

Frost, Poehling, Hathaway and Farabee

How is it possible that a team who wants to rebuild and is playing winning hockey dont has any worthwile assets to trade? Farabee and Frost are worth a First Round Pick in my mind. But they are also yound and should be part of the solution as players and not as trade assets!

This all makes 0 sense!

All in all i dont see a way to rebuild anything with this roster. This Roster will be the roster in 3 years when Mitchkov comes over. IF HE COMES OVER

If Mattias Samuelsson wasn’t hurt I think that’d be who Buffalo moves out. I could see him being someone the Flyers would be interested in. Fits the bill, Flyers bloodline, Younger D, has a long term contract already, under 4.5 AAV, always hurt.

York - ?
Samuelsson - Sanheim
Seeler - Drysdale

From a sensible standpoint, Jokiharju makes more, uh, sense. Arb-eligible RHD.

Also think Florida moves Ekblad in the offseason. His NMC goes to a M-NTC. Currently 3rd in their d core in ice time. Based on what Forsling got I think they can resign Montour for less than Ekblads 7.5. Can use Ekblads return and cap space to stack their team even more.

Probably should’ve posted these in a different thread

I’m cautious because of 30+ years of inconsistent play, but Sam Ersson might be really good lol

His pathway from draft+1 always said "this guy could maybe be a starter and it would not be crazy development"...

for example Sandstrom? The talent was there but he did not improve thaaaat much and still had similar issues to when drafted, and around draft+3 he fell behind the "likely to be a good NHLer" trend line.

Whereas Ersson... draft+1 had historical Allsvenskan season.
Draft+2 was "solid" in SHL (probably similar to Sandstrom at same age)
Draft+3 was amongst best goalies in SHL, which Sandstrom never really was.

If he had got average defence in front of him over his NHL career he would be over ~.910 sv% right now. It is actually bizarre how poorly the Flyers have played in front over him since he came into the NHL, while playing far better in front of Hart.

He is the ONLY goalie in the league who is under .900 on the season while being above +0.3 dfsv%... and he is at +0.63.

Since start of last season:

Hart: .907 sv%, +0.44 dfsv%
Ersson: .900 sv%, +0.59 dfsv%

Lycksell went back to the Phantoms. Gurianov will start on the Flyers roster.

Briere said they were willing to retain on Johansen but didn't get any real offers. He will go the Phantoms.
