In misery of redwings of suckage for a long time
Kill me.
When is Barkov's contract up?
Kill me.
Kill me.
The CBJ #1 is Bonk. I'm more excited about the 2nds at this point. The best piece is still the CBJ #1, independent of our capacity to use it well.
Walker may provide more value to the Flyers, depending on Bonk's development or lack thereof, but that would be an indictment of the Flyers, not of the relative value of the pieces involved.
And it's perfectly fine to not be excited by the Bonk pick. That still doesn't mean it was less valuable than Walker or the 2nds, just means that we know what we did with it, whether we wanted them to do that specific thing or not. That was the whole point I was making. The CBJ #1 is Bonk. I'm more excited about the 2nds at this point.
Remember the Flyers wanted to draft Bobby Sanguinetti instead of Giroux in 2006.They seem to luck into most of the good things
Org was still be in the same damn spot but just a bit more embarrassed. Or maybe less embarrassed for not having wasted a hall of fame careerRemember the Flyers wanted to draft Bobby Sanguinetti instead of Giroux in 2006.
Some bits with crappy translation:Super cool Zamula interview from Sport-Express.
Tons of insight on the team, Briere, Michkov, the AHL. He loves Torts. He would have returned to Russia if Fletcher was still GM. Loads of other things.
These dudes are so candid when giving interviews to their own media.

Thanks, Hanji. That was quite the exhaustive interview! I admit my surprise by the positive words he had to say about Tortorella: his one-on-one encouragement, sticking up for him when Fletcher allegedly was the one who wanted to send Zamula to the Phantoms, etc. And the conversations with Briere about his future with the Flyers.Super cool Zamula interview from Sport-Express.

Thank youSome bits with crappy translation:
— Are you sure that sending down was Fletcher's initiative, not Tortorella?
— Yes. I even know that Torts fought for me, tried to solve something. But in that situation it was impossible. When you play AHL — for the third year you begin to degrade. I went out on the ice and did not get any buzz.
The club understood that I already wanted to go to Russia, no matter where. But I was lucky that we had a good conversation with both the head coach and the future general manager. I found positive points in our dialogue.
— This is when it was?
— Two weeks before the dismissal of Fletcher. I told Brier that I did not want to play here, I am unhappy here. And you need to make a decision, because this is my last year of the contract. But I will not be a crying boy, so I will finalize my contract and then leave home to KHL.
...
— Did AHL give you something or was it a waste of time?
— Only if gray hair. I don’t know how to describe this league. The style of the game AHL — is not my style. I can’t play there, I don’t get high from hockey. My — play with the puck, in combination hockey. And there are constant dregs, you run across the site. I don’t understand why NHL clubs, when they take Russians or Swedes, send them to AHL. There is nothing to do with the NHL there. Look at the guys of 20 games in the NHL and decide whether they are ready or not. If you are not ready — they will benefit much more from the great game practice at home.
...
— Maybe they hinted with such a question that you need to pump up?
— In this regard, I am very pleased how I spent this summer. I got what they wanted. Every day I didn’t get out of the hall, only on Saturday and Sunday I didn’t go there. And he spent three and a half hours a day there.
— Wow. And how much have you added?
— 12 or 13 kilograms. It is clear that this is not much. But I had a specific task. If I don’t come to the arena every day plus a pound (0.45 kg. — Note. I.R.), then on the previous day it was possible not to appear at all. I underwent a tight surveillance of nutrition and recovery. At eight in the morning he came to training, at one o'clock he left and went to bed.
...
— It’s good that the situation with Fedotov did not affect the desire « Philadelphia » to choose Michkova.
— They are still afraid of us Russians. But you know what is interesting? When you draft many Canadians or Americans, they stop working after large contracts. But there are no Russians, Swedes and Finns —. Because for them it is an almost pipe dream, and they grab hold of it with all their hands and feet.
...
— In the junior league you played with a very long club, and when you first called « Philadelphia » you had to cut it.
— I needed to make a request to the league to allow me to play with a long club. But then I did not speak English very well — and could not explain it. Before the game itself, the length of my stick was noticed by our equipment manager and sounded the alarm. I have a stick on my lower lip, it is considered a big — here although in Russia the coach always taught to take clubs under his nose. I still think that I have a short stick, I had to retrain in the NHL, and I still do not like it.
When there was the first game, I went up to Captain Claude Gir and explained the situation. After all, if there is no special permission, there is a danger that the opponent will notice this, and because of me they will give the team two minutes. Giroud said: « Play your own, if that — pay a fine, do not care. If there is a minority, then let's go defend ourselves, and you get the buzz ». They still didn’t go out in the playoffs.
...
— This is just the beginning for you. What are your career goals?
— Now — gain a foothold in « Philadelphia » and prove to the coaching staff that I am — the player of the main team. Then climb the small steps — and increase playing time, show yourself in the majority and minority. But globally, — I want to take both the Stanley Cup and play in the national team. I think everyone has one — Olympics to win. And I believe that such an opportunity will come back to us...
3 years away from 3 years away..The guys the Flyers need to move to get better are the guys Torts and the organization are in love with. We are 8 months into the briere tenure and the only guy moved out for an actual return in assets has been Provorov.
The team just isnt talented enough and Michkov and Cutter alone arent going to be enough. They have like 8-10 type of guys filling what should be 5-6 spots (and 4-5 guys that have no business in the league) but they just like them all too much...so they will be given spots and cap over the types of players they need.
How this team going to get better if they refuse to make moves? Tbis team plus Cutter and minus Frost next year is still a bad team.

Thank you! That is simply one of the most insightful interviews I have ever read given by an NHL player! Truly truly great, thanks!Tons of insight on the team, Briere, Michkov, the AHL. He loves Torts. He would have returned to Russia if Fletcher was still GM. Loads of other things.

When checking out some Flyers dee stats today on NaturalStatTrick, I came across something very surprising to me.
Sanheim and York as a dee pair 5v5 have scored 9 times, and been scored on 23 times! It's the worst actual goals plus/minus pairing in the entire league, and of the 109 dee pairs with >90 minutes played together, or about 3 per team identifying the most common pairings...no-one has been scored on more than them. And only 8 have a worse rate of actual goals?
They have ok advanced stats re shots...scoring chances...high danger chances. But getting caved in on actual goals. No-one else on the FLyers has nearly such a bad rating.
Is this a continuation of, I think, a similar theme for Sanheim these last few years? Where ok advanced stats were side armed by poor actual goals against? Is it bad luck, or bad play?

ok so the ideas proposed so far is bad luck.Sanheim and York have a save % of 85.8% on the ice together. Among 15 pairs with >300 minutes, they have the worst by a country mile. 2nd worst is 91.1%. They’re also nearly tied for the worst on-ice shooting %.
Nothing is statistically out of whack besides these so…….
