As for this "Rebuild," please ponder the following Sumerian wisdom:

"The strong live by their own wages; the weak by the wages of their children."

It is very good that the Flyers do what they do. We must not live by the wages of our horrible bratty prospects. We must live strongly by the wages of the Deslauriers.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

Given Foerster, who is a year younger, is 4th among forwards in TOI, I don't think age is an issue with Torts. He's patient with Foerster's offense, b/c the potential is there, and meanwhile Foerster does all the little things to stay in the lineup. He's 3rd among forwards in xGFrel. Just has to learn to finish and turn that shot into goals.

Brink had a good start then tailed off, not uncommon for a rookie. Torts doesn't sound like he's given up on the kid, just doesn't feel he's NHL ready, especially off the puck.

The Flyers need a LW, this is a chance for Lycksell to grab a steady job in the top 9, though he may be auditioning for a spot after the TDL if a couple forwards are traded. I'd be surprised if Tuomaala comes up for more than a couple games at the end of the season, as good as he's playing at LHV, he's still really raw.
So just so I’m clear on your position with respect to Torts… it’s ok to send Brink down because he’s struggling and it’s hurting the team. And when Foerster doesn’t produce, he shouldn’t be benched because his advanced stats are good.

But when Morgan Frost (the guy who is #1 on the team in xGFrel) doesn’t produce, Torts is also justified in benching him for an absolutely terrible player in Nic Deslauriers and hurting the team’s chances of winning because Morgan needs a fire lit in him and being #1 in xGFrel isn’t enough. He should be even more gooder. More #1. There should be a bigger gap to #2.

This is totally about development. It’s not just Torts playing favorites. It’s for the greater good!

What a bullshit quote. He doesn't double shift anyone but like 3-4 players. All the left wingers. Can someone please call him out when he says crap like this!?
Listen, when Cambo is playing like this, you need to find a way to get him 20 minutes / game.

Brink’s development is just gonna have to wait until Cambo goes on another 15 game goalless streak.

Tonight should be really interesting without Tippett and Nicky D.

Ice times after the game will be cool to see

When did Deslauriers play center?

I'd point out that Brink went down so Lycksell could play in the top 9, Torts said before the season that he expected a revolving door with LHV, guys would struggle and get sent down, others would produce in LHV and be promoted and given chances.

This is what rebuilding teams do, try and audition prospects and see who's ready.

As far as Brink, he's hit the rookie wall HARD:
last 13 games: CF 40.88%, CFrel -10.96, xGF 35.47%, xGFrel -13.33
he's actually played worse than Deslauriers during that stretch. And he's not much of a fighter. :sarcasm:

Switch Atkinson and Frost, Brink and Laughton, and Cates and Hathaway and I’d be happy.

His recent revelation of an ongoing health issue sounded something like Crohn's or IBS, an ongoing problem confused with the flu or food poisoning. Hope he gets healthy.

I really hope it's not Hockey Canada related, although is is curious that Dillon Dube, another member of the 2018 team, just took a leave of absence for mental health reasons from the Flames.

Flames’ Dube taking indefinite leave of absence to deal with mental health

Is this just a cap-type move? Or does this signify a more significant injury?
