Do you think the reason the team is surprised with his play is because he went from an AHL third liner to NHL opening day first liner in one offseason, or do you think it's because maybe they evaluated and deployed him poorly last season?
They were surprised b/c he struggled after his hip surgery, basically had a lost season, and they probably thought (as I did) he could use a few months in the AHL to adjust to the pro game. And he still may, they just want to see him in real games to determine if he's NHL ready.

Rebuilding, ya know.

OK so we don't play kids on the 4th line, so Nicky D, Poehling, and Hathaway are safe. Who are you benching in the top 9?

Coots
Farabee
Cates
Atkinson
Laughton
Frost
Tippett
TK

I know who would be my favorite out of that group, but realistically there is one spot...unless there is an injury which is the Philadelphia promotional system for the last decade.

On D you have York, Sanheim (unless they are playing in Manitoba) and Risto as locks. Seeler who they wouldn't trade at peak value. Staal they may scratched eventually, but he's starting the year in the top 4...and then it will come down to "oh but we need a PKer".

They probably don't have an attachment to Walker but he's the only healthy RHD atm and people are convinced he'll be a trade target at the deadline.

So, the latter.

I don't know if you know this, but first line NHL calibre players don't have to rehab for 41 games in the AHL.

"Caught fire" for most of a season and whole playoff run, before continuing to play at a functional bottom six level (above most of what the Flyers had), after going to a team that specified they knew he was being used wrong?

Yes. Correct. That's a development error right there. You know, one of those things you can't ever give specific examples of for some reason.
they didn't ruin nak. Accept it. they didnt ruin myers. accept it. pure entertainment

Yes that run looks like an anomaly now doesn't it.

I don’t buy that they aren’t doing what fans want.

I see a lot of morons enjoying themselves in the stands, and getting right in line with the direction of things.

It’s largely a trailer park fanbase as far as I am concerned. If people didn’t so strongly support the alumni they wouldn’t have such a chokehold on the organization.

Considering dropping ticket sales, I'd disagree. They're shrinking the fanbase steadily.

Did you ever provide that list of development mistakes the team has made? Because any time anyone argues the team's processes have held players back (including when we have clear cut, black and white examples complete with other teams calling it out), you refuse to believe the plain facts.

I refuse to believe in plain facts. coming from you is funny. I am sure you will have ban coming my way for disagreeing. blame development on it all. That's what you do best. keep pushing kevin.

they do have developmental mistakes. Doesn't mean those 2 fit that bill.

I wouldn’t know those numbers so you very well might be right.

I think, and it’s not meant as an insult for anyone in that age range here - that a certain age bracket does support this shit.

Comcast has chosen to fully cater to that crowd, and the alumni in turn. Comcast is playing to their base so to speak, at least that’s how I see it.

They very much so doubled down on Flyer tradition this summer. The rebuilding nonsense is only to try to placate another portion of the fanbase but this is as half assed a rebuild as you could find. It’s Hextall 2.0 while grovelling at the feet of the country club.

Maybe I just can't see the post, but to me, the really interesting roster decision here hasn't been mentioned. It's Brink.

How does a player go from the bubble to playing on the top line on opening night? What does that process look like? I don't mean SEE TORTS LIKE KIDS. The nuts and bolts of how that was decided are the places you learn about their process.
It's certainly a different tack then playing him with Poehling and hamfist and then complaining that he doesn't produce.

Wouldn't Game 1 be the priority? What is going to change in 2 weeks that isn't evident now?

Id be more into the first game and more excited to watch if all the young guys that "made" the team were in the lineup. When a team has been this bad for so long, you need to realize that in my opinion, the fanbase would be more into watching/going to a game to see the young guys play and do well, as opposed to the same old shit and same mixture of vets year after year. Its watching Delaurier dump a puck in and lose possession or watching guys like brink go into the zone and try to pull something skillful off.

If Brink, Forest, Andrae, and Zamula all get real time (not alternating every other game between them), I will start to believe this team is serious. Not holding my breath, but it is more hope than I had before.

Fair. Lets check back in 3-4 weeks

What are those mistakes? Every time someone brings one up you argue against it.
