he was signed before last season no?
Yes, he was signed after scoring 21 points in 63 games.

Owen Tippett signed a 2 year, $3,000,000 contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Jul. 29, 2022. The contract has a cap hit of $1,500,000.

He insinuates he has inside sources, but hasn't said anything proving it.
I wonder if it's the same inside source that told him no one in Flyers management wanted to move Prorovov.

Nothing wrong with Heatley coming in as a scout. Ex-players have to do something after they retire and a scouting role is an easy one to transition to without any staff experience. At least they didnt gift him an important role with zero experience like they did to Lappy

Eastwood was brought in to replace Brown as head of pro scouting, and Brown was demoted. Two long time scouts retired.

Who cares about "senior advisors?" Show me one item that suggests the fossils have any influence over Briere and Torts.

For one thing, you think Torts gives a damn what Clarke or Holmgren or Barber thinks about anything? Fat chance.

Briere's only connection was he was brought to Philly by Holmgren when he was the GM, Briere played for 5 different teams. Holmgren may have got him hired at Maine, but he wasn't Briere's boss there, since Maine was run by another organization. Briere is tighter with the Comcast crew than the advisors, who were Snider's men.

For better or worse, it's the Torts/Briere show with Keith Jones as the third wheel and the advisors getting lip service but no pull.

This stupidity has Senior Advisors written all over it IMO

Played for the Flyers significantly longer than anyone else & he's only been in the FO here, so don't act like we're just one of many faceless teams in Briere's career.

Fan fiction vs reality:

Now that his playing days are over, the 38-year-old has plenty of extra time on his hands. It wasn’t long before an opportunity to rejoin the Flyers came knocking, however.

Flyers president Paul Holmgren reached out to Briere a few months ago to see if he'd be interested in learning a few things about the business side of the operation.

"He just asked me if it was something that would interest me, to kind of follow him and learn from him a little bit of what he’s doing, what his job entails. He told me it’s a little more on the business side but it might be a good thing for you," Briere said of his discussion with Holmgren.

"He ran the idea by Mr. Snider and [chief operating officer] Shawn Tilger, and they were OK with it. Really, Shawn has been amazing as well, giving me the chance and opening all those doors for me to learn more and more."

Just like that, Briere traded his gear for a suit.

Holmgren has taken him under his wing, perhaps paving the way for Briere to one day join the team’s front office.

Right now, there's no pay involved though. Briere doesn't have set hours or an official job description, either.

He’s simply volunteering his time.

Briere and Torts think like them. That's why they're here. They don't have to influence them. They're already going to do the incompetence they desire.

And you're loony if you think they can't generate a shakeup if they want. Hilferty is a jock sniffer who adores them and wants their affection.

It would probably make sense to go with a 1st pairing of:

York-Sanheim

then

Staal-Risto
Seeler-Walker
Zamula

Similar to what the Flyers did in after firing Hak in 18-19 when they didn't have much depth on defense.

Provorov - 21:12 ES TOI/GP
Sanheim - 19:48

Ghost - 15:37
Gudas - 15:35
Myers - 14:32
Hagg - 14:14
MacDonald - 13:49

29th and Toronto's 2nd rd pick (50+).

However, this was at the same time they were discussing a deal for Sanheim, which would have also involved a 1st rd pick - was St Louis willing to deal both 1st rd picks?

Problem is with these rumors is we don't know the entire context, was this proposed deal for Laughton inclusive of a salary dump (similar to the proposed Sanheim deal), was it one or the other?

As usual, the devil is in the details.
