Probably already discussed but, STG believes Zamula doesn't make the team, gets picked up when they put him on waivers, don't think allison makes the team either.

Zamula just played 23 minutes on the first pair with Sanheim.

Allison is on the bubble, they did play him at LW last game, being able to play both sides will be important, since he's competing with Laczynski for the 13th forward job (loser of Foerster/Brink likely starts the year in LHV). Laczynski can play C & RW, so Allison is helped if he can play both sides.

Seems hard to believe when he could easily be the 7th dman on the roster

Your fear of agreeing with the masses even for individual moves, consumes you.
You really hit the nail on the head here.

Cal Petersen has 2 years and $5MM AAV on his deal, was one of the worst goalies last year, and he's waiver fodder on day 1. Grans is 21 years old and was one of the first send downs coming off a terrible sophomore AHL year. The Flyers took back an additional $2.7MM in Walker, who looks to be the 7D. Good luck building flip value there.

If you want to argue Provorov's value was 22nd overall alone (which they used on a lower ceiling defender), which feels pretty worst case, all the shit above netted a single 2nd rounder as positive value. What's the grade on this home run again? I cannot believe the Kings cleared most of Petersen for this.

The Flyers are in a terrible state man. Stop making me feel worse. :(

Didnt they get back 2 2nds? I could be misremembering and dont feel like looking it up. Also, I dont think Walker will be the 7th D, but now I'm just nitpicking.

yup another second either this year or next but i think its columbus choice. we also lost hayden hodgson, mark stone's mortal enemy.

Dumped Connauton's contract spot as well.
Walker will be a starter.

Grans is 21, not a 2nd rd value, but Wheeler had him ranked #6 among King prospects in February, and their pool ranked 7th overall, so he has some value.

It was a solid return for a D-man who flatlined as a 2nd pair guy (ignoring his bad season last year).

They have the Kings 2024 pick (50s?) and likely a 2025 2nd from Columbus (which is really 3rd round value) as part of the Provorov trade. Just think about what teams are asking for to take on Joseph in Ottawa, who actually can play in the NHL. Or, heaven forbid, revisit Gostisbehere. Taking maybe the worst goalie in the league on a 2 year deal, who you instantly plan to send to the AHL.....the Kings made out like bandits no two ways about it.

Should Walker be on the 3rd pair? Probably. But the only way he plays is if Zamula is scratched (yikes) or one of Seeler/Staal every night. Tortorella has a love affair with both of the veterans. It's going to be some rotation at best.

My point was that this trade was acclaimed as Briere's first move.

Once we trade Hart, Petersen will be an excellent tank commander. Keep your eyes on the prize.

I'm still not sure they trade Hart, and I'm very skeptical it happens mid-season. And Ersson/Sandstrom (or fill) would be the tandem, even if they did.

I know you don't believe this team -- especially Jorts -- will purposefully put shit in net. More likely, they overperform with their goaltending.

I am completely sure they aren't trading Hart. Their rebuild is over in a year, why trade your starter in his prime?

Petersen is the reason coaches hate goalies, or so I've been told

That’s right…we used one of them to get a goalie this year in the 2nd rd. I didn’t love that move. Overall, I think the trade is a win, but not an A+.

I hate they haven’t traded Seeler and I hate the Staal signing.

it would have been the easiest way, roll peterson and sandstrom all year who dont factor into the future really. hart probably has the most trade value other than konecny but also keeps us in alot of games we shouldnt be in

I actually forgot the LA 2nd is already gone to Chicago. They traded it for #51 this last draft (along with a 2023 6th) to select Bjarnason. Fine value in picks. But then you have to have the goalie value conversation. None of this likely helps the trade tree.

Right, Holmgren is running things from the shadows, which is why they drafted 3 skilled forwards in the 1st 4 rounds.
Wasn't "Holmgren is running things from the shadows" your schtick for defending the entire Fletcher era?

...after 2018, that was all Holmgren
Lmao literally the next post

Walker’s play should be improved unless he blows out his knee again. Come TDL a decent RHD has value. 3rd at least probably a second.
It’s been admitted that there have been offers for Hart. If he clears his charges, I think that he’s a goner. Ersson takes over going forward. Even now he may be the better goalie of the two.

Holmgren set the "win now" mandate after the 2018-19 season, b/c he felt the window was closing on G. Fletcher did what he was told, overpaid for Hayes (note both Hayes and Duchene, the two big center targets, were both dumped this offseason), traded for Niskanen and Braun.

Then after 2020-21, Holmgren was MIA.
