The cap starts to rise next summer, as the escrow will have been paid off, probably about $4M.
There seems always to be a market for "enforcers" and physical RHDs by PO teams.
Wouldn't expect a lot for Nicky D, but MacEwen got a 5th and Brown a 7th.
You’re the one that said Schenn and Risto were comparable at those numbers…Huge difference between $1M and $5M.
$1M and $1.75M is a difference easily managed.
No I didn't. All I did was note that Schenn was still employed despite being a below average skater with little offensive skill. You’re the one that said Schenn and Risto were comparable at those numbers…
so a team with a rising cap will waste it on ND for 7 minutes a night? plus those 2 had expiring deals. That makes a huge diffThe cap starts to rise next summer, as the escrow will have been paid off, probably about $4M.

risto will be movable next summer you seem to believe. Why, who knows. Savard iwas a much better dman that Risto. No I didn't. All I did was note that Schenn was still employed despite being a below average skater with little offensive skill.
The comparable for Risto were the physical RHDs like Savard who seem to be in demand at every TDL.

Luke Schenn was being paid $850k at the moment this post was made. This is amusing, since L Schenn is the ultimate "dinosaur" D-man.
Friedman: - Friedman and Marek - 'If the Canucks decide to move Schenn they will receive a lot'
Schenn will retire as a Canuck and I have no problem with that. Unless it's a first round draft pick, he's too valuable to this core. Lol. If they're considering Schenn a part of the core, they've already lost. The team is a trash heap with or without him. Take the 2nd round pick. Canadian...forums.hfboards.com
This is a guy who from 2016-2020 could be considered worse than Risto.
So it does make sense to see if you can "fix" Risto and make it easier to dump him.
The point was that teams love "dinosaur" D-men.Luke Schenn was being paid $850k at the moment this post was made.
They’re not comparable.
They love them at $850k, not $5M.The point was that teams love "dinosaur" D-men.
Risto was much improved defensively last season, if Shaw can continue to get him to focus on positioning rather than hits, he'll have substantial value at say 3x3 or so next summer if they want to move him [they might wait until Attard and Bonk are established starters, not too many options in the system at RHD].
I don't know which is more egregious: the fact that this team thinks there is a market for Fisto at that cap hit, or that this team thinks he is a key piece of a contending roster. So does this team. It’s been reported by ASF Ristolainen wasn’t traded because even with the regime change at the top they still value him as a player & feel he’s integral to playoff hockey. They think they fixed Ristolainen & as of now he’s apart of the plans going forward right now. As he also said during the segment they’re hopeful that in two years from now they can start pushing the roster toward & looking to the playoffs.

Who were they going to trade Risto to at 4x5?
And who was going to play RHD this year?
Makes more sense to see if he can continue to improve.

What's that got to do with Briere?Too bad Chuck's flawless record was tarnished by that one bad signing. The trade for him was fine, since other teams are also dumb enough to offer up 1sts for 3rd pairing guys.

Probably because Briere was involved in re-signing Ristolainen to that awful extensionWhat's that got to do with Briere?
He's stuck with Risto the same way he's stuck with Sanheim.

I criticized both the Risto trade and the Risto signing at the time.I was speaking more towards your endless defense of past regimes, but I guess you've moved on. Funny how it's never anyone's fault....until they're gone.
