What’s your evidence? Ah the Flyers entire history of overvaluing depth players.

This organization proudly trotted out Carter, Richards as a comp to Malkin/Crosby for years - and got usually bitch slapped for it when the prize was up for claim.

Overrating their own is a Flyers disease.

If the reports of Michkov's ultra-competitive nature are true, Torts will LOVE him.
He's got no problem with top offensive players, he's said offense is primarily instincts, and if Michkov plays defense, Torts will have zero issues with him.

The players who get in trouble with Torts are the offense first guys who cherry pick and don't skate hard on the back check and have bad defensive fundamentals. He doesn't expect his offensive stars to be Selke candidates (though he'd cream over Sidney and will love Couts), he just doesn't want them to be black holes on defense.

People want the Flyers to play wide open hockey without top talent - that's a recipe for getting blown out night after night.
If you can't outskate and outshoot the opposition, you have to play smart and hard, disciplined hockey and go all out every shift to be competitive.

ASF Said during Snow The Goalie today that The Wells Fargo Center/Flyers are widening the parking lot entry lanes and to open additional entrances to the WFC so that people dont have to go to only 2 entrances to get in the building

Oh? Torts doesn't want to give Frost good usage?

Meltzer works for the Flyers? If there is a player/coach rift isn’t this just a case of another Flyer employee diminishing trade value if it goes that far?

He does. But he’s a Frost fanboi.

No one really reads Meltzer’s tweets on an August morning. Just wait and see what Tortorella will say to the media in training camp and the season when he deems Frost a malcontent and not “one of his guys” for wanting scoring usage and a fair contract.

Somehow I don’t think Tippett and Cates have to worry about Tortorella giving them smaller roles than they have in mind. “Something something look at 5v5 ice time when tied in odd numbered days since [enter arbitrary date].”

One of the worst teams in the league already has an internal usage cap on their most skilled u25 player. Is that good process?

Nice, we're going to lose a contributor to the future for a coach that will get fired in 2 years

I would care but nothing matters until Clarke is gone and everyone who has ever been within a mile of him is fired. Losing a Frost trade is a good step in the direction of the all-powerful purge and internal rebuild needed.

Flyers havent been able to outskate, and outshoot the opponent for 15 + years.

Solid strategy to double down on.

EFFORT BABY. THE CLARKE WAY. Incompetent pigs.
They're not doubling down, Tippett, Gauthier, Michkov, they're finally adding players who can keep up.
Foerster, Kaplan are more old style, but both are skilled passers.
They can add more speed (and did later in the draft) but they're no longer slugs.

If there's a hole going forward, it is the lack of size and speed on defense, York, Andrae lack jets, Zamula is an average skater who lacks mass.
Sanheim is the only D-man with speed, but he struggles to finish in the O-zone.
Risto, Attard, Ginning are the only ones with size. Maybe McDonald down the road.

Problem is intil reinforcements arrive, there's no alternative to grinding it out.

What's a "fair contract" for a player who has played at a top 6 level for 2/3 of a season at age 23?
It's not like there's much of a track record there, compare to Farabee or TK when they signed their extensions.

The hole is the same it’s always been.

I don’t give a f*** around a revolving door of secondary players no matter how hard they will try to market them as more.

Finding that elite core with Matvei, Cutter, and drafting 5-10 this year eh?

*clears throat*

THE HOLE IS GOOD HOCKEY PLAYERS. IT’S BEEN THE SAME HOLE FOR A DECADE.

How can it possibly be this hard to focus on what players can do rather than what they can’t?
