Seems like unusually large number of 1 yr contracts to good players. TDL should be interesting this season as teams fall out of contention.

Against better judgement I watched a snow the goalie podcast......even they said when torts contract ends its extremely likely he moves into the VP of hockey ops position.......hockey gods hate the flyers

Yall thought I was kidding, this man will be a lifer here, and that should terrify each and every one of you

This whole "happy healthy collaborative" environment isnt going to last. Torts isnt going to want to play 20 year olds and itll create issues. Him and Briere eont be here in 3 years...its a question of which one will.

Torts benches veterans, "he's ruining their value!"
Torts benches rookies, "he's setting back their development"

Torts has always played young players, he just holds them to the same standards as his veterans, you play the right way or you don't play.
I suspect the same holds true for Sullivan and Brind'Amour.

He declined but looks like there are multiple potential reasons. Still odd though.

Why can’t the NHL pay for their stays? That’s ridiculous.

Apparently an NHL team can only pay for one year of it and others would be out of pocket? That is what I heard.

Briere really needs to work on giving out information, geez. It's much ado about nothing.

You get 1 camp at the teams expense and the NCAA is very strict on anyone outside of the immediate family helping with expenses. A lot of times it's easier to not have to deal with the hassle. Kaplan who is attending his 2nd, lives in New Jersey whereas Cutter's parents live in AZ. The NCAA goes so far as saying the player has to even play to rent the ice time during camp, so there is no appearance of there being something shady going on.

Yea that’s crazy. I get not having an arms race to wine and dine prospects. But this is not cool. They are coming to your camp to make money for you!
Just to be clear its not an NHL rule its an NCAA rule.

Feels like just a formality at this point but...

The league has never been universally aware of either Sullivan or The Bod despising players, so no.
