Briere really needs to work on giving out information, geez. It's much ado about nothing.

You get 1 camp at the teams expense and the NCAA is very strict on anyone outside of the immediate family helping with expenses. A lot of times it's easier to not have to deal with the hassle. Kaplan who is attending his 2nd, lives in New Jersey whereas Cutter's parents live in AZ. The NCAA goes so far as saying the player has to even play to rent the ice time during camp, so there is no appearance of there being something shady going on.

Just to be clear its not an NHL rule its an NCAA rule.
Does anyone have any info on when this rule went into effect ?

It definitely wasn't in effect up until 2019 or 2020.

I also remember that a drafted player was only required to attend 3 Devo camps. Is that still in effect ? per NHLPA If I remember correctly

Last season was a bad one. In my eyes, Tortorella was running a tryout year in order to see who could play in what situations and who could play in others. Some guys, Hayes, TDA, Provorov, couldn’t handle their roles and are gone. There probably are a few more to leave. Complicating this process was an inept GM who couldn’t judge talent or proper contract terms. Also two strong team leaders in Couturier and Atkinson were absent.
As for Tortorella, we don’t know what went on in the locker room with the players. Some assumptions have been made without any supporting evidence. I still go back to what Talbot said about players and coaches- “five or so guys love him; five or so hate him the rest don’t care. They just want to play hockey.” From what we have/have not seen or heard, there has not been any sort of rebellion against Tortorella like what happened in Calgary around Sutter. Let’s just see how things go come TC. I’d venture that things will be a lot more coherent this season.

This is from 2018

a player may only attend one camp or tryout per team in which the NHL team pays for the player’s expenses and the player is there for no longer than 48 hours from the time he arrives at the facility until he leaves camp. If the player pays his own expenses then he can attend however many he wants for however long.

The myth of Torts isn't supported by the evidence.

Frost is a good example, sure, Torts rode him hard early in the season, then in December made him the de facto 1C and he scored at a 1C rate the rest of the way. 2.43 pp/60, 37th among forwards. Is that good development?

I know about the 48 hour rule for ncaa players eligibility when it comes to CHL Camps. Also can’t play in any CHL games exhibition or regular season.
I still think that ncaa players can attend development camps, not rookie or training camps, without any repercussions.
There have been un drafted ncaa free agents attend multiple development camps with different teams in the same summer

Yes, I have been trying to explain that to you for over a year now.

Reports out of Russia say Fedotov completed his military service and has already left/fled the country for Dubai, where he's apparently "on vacation". I can see him travelling straight to the US from there instead of going back to CSKA. I know the Flyers could soon fill the entire roster with goalie prospects alone, but I still think Fedotov should get an ELC and some games, if only to see where he's at compared to Ersson and co. For all we know, he could already be the best goalie in the organization.

Dreger was on VAN radio today saying PHI called WPG/VAN to take Sanheim. They told WPG they’d take the negative value Schmidt deal but WPG said no. There was also the willingness to take Krug’s liability.

Just curious as to whether the fanbase feels the same about Sanheim or if the fanbase views him as a legitimate top four matchup guy with no signs of slowing down.

The team says it will be competitive in 3 years, has a defense group in shambles, and yet we’re supposed to believe trading Sanheim in that context is logical. Either the rebuild is too long for him — which I’d agree with but they don’t — or Tortorella/Jones just don’t like him and prefer someone like Ristolainen, context and long term vision be damned. Ding ding ding.

What a skank lol

I thought you were exaggerating before I clicked on the video. You were not lol.

Well that would be an upgrade at least.

He's much better at calling NHL games than he is at Draft Analysis.

Sanheim is the Flyers best defensemen and its not close right now. However, when Emperor Tortellini wants you gone, you get disappeared.

Jones shit on Sanheim all the time in the broadcasts and interviews.

Sanheim, Hayes, TDA were all clearly on Torts shit list.

Don’t KHL teams have training camps in this part of world or am I making stuff up?
