Torts in his first year turned Frost, Tippett, Cates, and York into solid starters.
Allison also was given a starting job, though his problem isn't Torts but injuries sapping some of his mojo.
When was the last time the Flyers developed 4 young starters in one season?

Who exactly did he alienate?
Sanheim? A under achiever who just got overpaid
Provorov? A career under achiever who is overpaid
Hayes? A veteran center who got called out for lack of defense and did respond.
TDA? Who knows what he did, but it's not like he wasn't given every chance to succeed

Sanheim is the only one likely to return, and he needs to be pushed, he's glided through his career as a Flyer, showing flashes of talent but never consistently producing like he should. He's 27 next season, making $6M a year, time to step it up.

Fiction.

You've shifted your cult allegiance from Fletcher to Tortorella. He's already doing the opposite of what you think would be best and this unbridled adoration is how you respond.

Of course they'd take the 2nd this year.
But they'll be making trades before the draft, odds are they land a number of 2023 and 2024 picks.

Probably because we have a coach (and apparently some posters here) who think alienating certain players is a good thing.

Seems asinine to me.
I think with Allison it is more about him being injured most of the time than his play

I’m still unclear about why Torts is getting so much say in this alleged rebuild. He seems like the opposite type of coach, let alone pseudo GM. From my understanding he is a coach with a very short shelf life who you bring in if you have a good but underachieving, undisciplined team

This is the common read on Tortorella.... of course the slurp fest gang is seeing it differently.

This is a myth. Outside of Vancouver, he lasted 7 years in TB, 5 in NY, 6 in CBJ.
Compare to say Gallant, who's been fired in his 3rd season by 3 teams.
Laviolette, 5 years CAR, 5 years Phl, 6 Nash, 3 Wash.

Torts seems to work best with rebuilding teams where there isn't a coterie of entrenched veterans who don't want to be pushed.

Except in the ‘70s, the team Allen assembled was to meet the needs of the current state of the league. Boston and St Louis were kicking the crap out of everyone so they needed to get tougher but also have skill.

The current/future state of the league still requires a balance between speed and skill and size, but puck handling and offensive creativity are at a premium. I don’t see Torts as the right coach or talent evaluator. He’s just a tough talking blowhard with an already expired best before date.

I’ve watched more hockey in these playoffs than I did all year and the hockey is excellent - fast, tough, no margin for error.

I hope Briere makes some smart first steps in shedding contracts and acquiring draft picks. The Flyers are a long way off, we need a glimmer of hope.

You are so F ing bang on with this statement . He is a little general that is my way or the highway . He talks the talk but his actions do not follow suit . He says he wants good communications with his players and wants to hear their side but the second TDA voices his side he is benched for the rest of the year .

The list goes on as well , but he jumps up and down and acts like a idiot so some people that have no clue what is going on or what he is about love him , cause he is entertaining .

The saying , you catch more flies with sugar than salt is bang on and Tort's is straight salt 24/7 and he don't give a shit . My way or the Highway !!!!

We don't know what happened with TDA, but given that Torts gave him multiple opportunities to clean up his act on the ice, I suspect it was more about TDA.

This is just saying a Defenseman is valuable because he plays 25 Minutes a night.
It was in reply to the claim that he "he is a coach with a very short shelf life."
Now Gallant, that's a scary track record.

A defenseman who plays 25 minutes a night is valuable, b/c he's unlikely to do so unless he's clearly better than the 3rd pair D-men who'd play more minutes. This is similar to why starting pitchers who go deep into games have value just by being durable, b/c it saves your bullpen.

Now it doesn't make him a good player, but it can make him a useful player.

This is utter gobbledegook. Every word.

Relating to Tortorella, the good news for your argument is he will not have a short shelf life here. Because he’s positioned himself as a savior who backwardly dictates managerial hires.
