If Allison is the 4RW, I’m ok with it. If they decide they want another 4RW, I’m also OK with it.

I don’t want Allison penciled for a top-9 role, & if he doesn’t play for the Flyers again I won’t lose any sleep.

I have no problem with Allison pushing for a top 9 job in TC, if he's the player he was before the injuries sapped some of his skating, he might do so. He's going to have to learn how to play North/South (just watching Foerster, 4 years younger, you can see the difference in skill and vision) without getting himself killed (like learn how to brake).

Laczynski is less likely, except for a couple games where he showed a little burst, he was awful last season. He'd have to stay at 100% and show some improved skating.

Foerster will be top 9, maybe top 6 next year. Tippett will probably move to LW to open up a spot.

Weird Allison has so much to prove and to learn after Torts "developed" him so well.

He started 60 games, played 12:54, mostly on a third line with JVR and Hayes.
That's giving a player a fair shot at winning a job.
Allison showed flashes, but 1.12 pp/60 (5x5) was barely above MacEwen's 1.02.
When you're 25 years old, there usually isn't much upside left.

So Tortorella was unable to develop him to the Voracek level you expected?

So Allison should have played higher in the lineup than Frost, right? :snide:

Take Torts out of it completely.

Said poster is lecturing peoppe about using small sample sizes to make evaluations when they have a history of using small sample sizes to make evaluations.

Feels awfully similar to "don't rush to judge the guy who just threw a wheelchair down the stairs, because , the girl reporting the story is holding a beer in a social media profile picture. "

At least they're consistent, i guess.

Yes yes, we know your spiel. Games before December don't count. Games at the end of the season don't count. Torts' Vancouver stint doesn't count.

Whatever manipulation is necessary to support your argument, we get it.
Training camp scrimmages > early January > playoffs > all other games

Really makes one wonder why you would use Allison as an example of Torts developing kids well, doesn't it?

I'd almost feel bad for us taking the piss on DH, but he just keeps throwing absolutely unhinged takes out there. He physically can't help himself.

So when Foerster is in Lehigh to start the year will you admit you were wrong?

Maybe Tort's should stop structuring him in every zone of the ice . Under AV and Lappy he preformed like a top nine and did the first half till the allstar break .

Tort's no east west only north south and grind and no fancy stuff ain't the player . Maybe structure him in their own end then let him go and stop over coaching him every where else on the ice like Tort's says coaches have a tendency to do . We can blame players all we want but dingle balls over coaches all the time with most players . He don't give a shit what your strengths are you will play the way he wants or bye bye .

He performed like a top nine when he was healthy and skating better than the last couple years. Even then, it was his physical play along the boards that stood out.
Allison has to play an aggressive north south game b/c he's just not that skilled, just look at Foerster, the gap between them was obvious and Foerster is 4 years younger with far less experience.

If Allison doesn't play a physical, PF hard checking game, he's just not that good, he lacks good speed, he has a good but not special shot, mediocre vision (too many bad passes across ice that got intercepted) and instincts. He's best winning board battles and getting the puck to linemates.

The irony of people fluffing Allison is that he's an "old school" Flyers forward.
