Is Lucic ever coming back after completing whatever rehab they put him in or are they going to quietly pretend he isn't part of the team anymore?
Gotta think the trial will have a bigger impact than any rehab. I don't think he sniffs a team facility until he's found innocent or the charges are dropped.

A good 3 team trade is what we need....

BOS gets Lindholm
EDM gets DeBrusk
CGY gets Prospects/Picks

There would be other pieces involved but that's the foundation

Zacha - Lindholm - Pastrnak
Marchand - Coyle - Poitras
JVR - Geekie - Frederic
Lauko - Beecher - Steen

I'd even consider swapping Geekie & Poitras.
You're going to need to add a lot of prospects to bridge the gap between Debrusk and Lindholm. I don't know if we have enough in the pipe.

The Bruins should see if DeBrusk + Lysell can get them Hanifin

Zacha/Merkulov - Merkulov/Zacha - Pastrnak
Marchand - Poitras/Geekie - Heinen
JVR - Coyle - Frederic
Lauko - Beecher - Geekie/Steen
Steen

Lindholm - McAvoy
Hanifin - Carlo
Lohrei - Forbort/Shattenkirk

O'Reilly maybe?
DeBrusk for Glass might make some sense

Posting my thoughts after last nights no show.

Offensively, they have one guy that can be relied on to produce on a nightly basis in Pastrnak and thats it. Marchand can still contribute but he's 35 with two shot hips and is no longer the play driver he once was. Staying on the topic of Marchand, I thought when he was given the C that it would have him playing fiery but its seemed to do the opposite. In years past he'd starting getting into scrums and stirring the pot when he'd sense the Bs were flat and would try and drag them into the fight but I haven't really noticed any of that this year. Coyle and Zacha have been decent stopgaps for our lack of top C depth but they are not the answer long term. JVR and Poitras had great starts but JVRs fountain of youth seems to have dried up and Poitras has hit a bit of a rookie wall of sorts. Don't even get me started on Debrusk. Systematically their forecheck is nonexistent and I doubt any opposing dman starts sweating when they think about having to retrieve a puck along the end boards when they play the Bruins. Easy to play against.

Defensively, this is the worst Bruins D core i have seen in a long time. Everything from how easy they are to play against to how they manage the puck is horrible. Carlo has been their best defensemen this year, McAvoy has been mediocre at best and the rest of them have been #6s on their best nights and AHL fodder on their worst. Not sure what happened to Lindholm but he's completely forgotten how to play hockey, Grzelcyk, who half of this board seems to think is this amazing PMD, has 1 f*cking point in 20 games at a -3. Shattenkirk looks like he's Shattinhispants half of the time with his d-zone coverage and Lohrei, while the tools are there, still looks lost out there a lot of times and should be in Providence right now. They give up the blueline like its a charity event, wilt at the slightest sign of an aggressive forecheck and can't clear the zone to save their lives. Then in the Ozone none of them can get their shots through and then when they finally do they hit the glass instead.

Not much to be said on the goaltending. They have been the sole reason the Bs record is as good as it is and are naturally starting to break down after being hung out to dry routinely.

The toughness horse has been beaten to dust at this point and is both a roster makeup and team mentality problem. Lauko and Steen bring it up front but aren't big guys and the guys we do have with size don't use any of it. The frustrating thing is that we DID have that guy and well......

Lots of problems and I'm not sure where you even begin fixing them.
You should have extra in your stocking, that was a excellent post. I might add, I, have said this before, I was not in favor of firing Cassidy, but I understood why he was all coaches have expiration dates. When they were looking for a coach Montys name came up and I did feel he should get a shot at it, now I think the time has come for a revaluation, his system is putting to much of a load on the goaltenders. I wanted to trade Ullmark earlier in the season to get some cap relief, but to be honest I now believe both goaltenders are must. Merry Christmas and again great post.

Well if you want to use the Horvat deal as a guide it'd we'd need to add a 1st + Lysell. I'd say JDB is better than Anthony Beauvillier. Lindholm also is on pace to see his production decline for a 2nd straight season. Right now he's trending to 57pts. Horvat was red hot and on pace for 90pts when he was moved.

Mods, hope it's okay for me to cross post in the prospects thread as well as here.

Listen to Mark Divver's analysis of Merkulov's recent play, and, especially, his pointed criticism of Fabian Lysell,

Trenin? Glass?
Only guys on the Preds that I've seen are available are the 3 RHD (Barrie, Fabbro, Carrier).

I'm curious if they'd try and bring back Lauzon. He can play LD/RD, willing to drop the gloves and plays a heavy game. Novak is also a guy who plays center and is a pending UFA. Would love to target RoR but he just signed there and I can't see them moving him already.

If they feel Forbort is going to have issues moving forward with his health, Lauzon would be a good pickup for the bottom pair or insurance policy. I'd like Trenin too. It's too bad the McDonagh contract is awful or else he'd be a good vet partner to help settle McAvoy back down again. Gryz just hasn't been the same this year.

Nothing like him sitting in here calling everyone entitled, while also talking about how he voted the bruins fan base the most annoying fan base on some random guy from twitters poll.

Yet he can’t get enough of a bruins fan forum considering he averages 1,250+ posts a year since joining.

Somethings not adding up
Hahaha I agree! Glass house

I agree with much of this. Especially your last point.

This team has multiple problems and they are catching up to the Bruins in a big way.

Overreliance on goaltending, terrible defense, too many exhausting minutes for their best players, too many bottom six guys, can't score, soft as a baby's bottom, helter-skelter coaching, etcetera.

At present they are a mess.

I’m sure the Bs scouts liked Fabbro from his college career.

I think O’Reilly or Forsberg are the only guys who could meaningfully change this roster. I doubt they’re dishing Forsberg

If you want to come on here to blast the fandom feel free to actually just not. This is a discussion about the roster and the salary cap. Just like it says on the tin. Not about how much you hate Bruins fans.

Same goes for those who wish to engage in conversation with people who don't appreciate these guidelines. Report it or ignore it. Because that is a slew of yuletide bullshit I just had to sift through and I haven't (yet) had enough holiday spirit to be happy about digging through the compost.

Think he has to be toast.

Bruins might not even have the PR budget necessary to smooth over the shit show Lucic created. Image of a 6’4” 220 LB behemoth yanking his wife around by her hair is not going to go away easily.

Just such idiotic, selfish, and shitty shitty behavior. Hockey is least of what he should be focusing on right now. So many other things to be concerned with. Like trying to convince his kids he doesn’t suck.

As more time goes by and the facts settle in, I’m more and more pissed at him.

No one is making excuses for Lucic. As noted at the time, domestic violence is never acceptable.

And of course it was a stupid, awful thing to do.

From my perspective, all I can feel is sadness about the entire affair. For Milan, his wife, his kids, his family and friends, his teammates.

I hope MIlan gets the help he needs, and I hope he'll be okay. It's going to be a long road for all concerned.

I'm not going to trash him, which is exceedingly easy to do these days, sans facts, context and compassion. I'm not going to turn my back on him, either.

Bruins last year were Valedictorian. This year they are a good B student.

They should get 100 points and make playoffs

If they pick up Hanifin to bolster a wonky defense surprisingly and the left side has been not good - they jump up to very good B+

They get him and Lindholm they are A.

It will be interesting to see what they do when they get back

They were very good against Wild here but Fleury stole a point - last 2 games not good

Beat Wild here - split on road seemed the Bruins way

That’s 3 points gone

I said it before and I say it again. Boston will be the new Detroit. Making the playoffs every year and going out early because playoff hockey exposes their weaknesses. I expect Sweeney to do everything he could to at least reach the playoffs, I also expect him to piss away the cap space we will have in the summer on mediocre or over the hill players. Like the Beleskeys, Backes, Moores, Reillys and many more.

The wise move would be to play the year out and recoup some draft picks. Re-signing DeBrusk makes no sense to me. I would like the team to move on and let another team with the problems he has. I also trade Ullmark In the offseason and get some value for him. A medicore serious about winning team could trade a mid first rounder for him and extend him. Lets use the draft pick to get a number one center or try to get good prospect. The team is in no position to let his soon to be UFAs just walk like they did in the past with Eriksson or Krug.
