I don’t mean a mistake in choosing Slaf. Although that debate won’t be settled for awhile. You don’t get many cracks at 1OA. You don’t pick a big skilled finesse guy in hopes you can turn him into something else.

I mean, sure you can add elements to his game, but he’s never going to be a Playing a Brady Tkachuk type of game. If that’s managements expectation then they shit the bed. I don’t think that’s what they expect.

I’d be happy with him being interested in showing up every night. He seems disinterested half the games I’ve watched. A passenger on his top line. If he was playing with Dach and Newhook he’d be doing even worse stat wise. The numbers aren’t very flattering for Slaf. He’s only young, so lots of time to turn the table.
Honestly, if I saw him hustling and just making mistakes and being "snakebit" I'd be a lot more confident. Experience means the puck will eventually go in. He has skills, he isn't stone hands. The fact he seems to not be intentful is what gives me a lot of doubt

He has the same number of 5 on 5 points as the other top prospect of his draft class, while playing with Dach and Newhook or Laine for practically half of his season.

Only 7 less points at 5 on 5 than Suzuki.

I think that if he can bring the intensity and actually show up every night that would go a long way and would probably naturally progress into him adding more physicality to his game as he gets stronger

You don’t need to play a Tkachuk type game to play physical though. I’d be happy if he plays like he did down the stretch last season.

Can someone translate what RDS is saying here?

My poor French and Google translate are giving me nonsense. Something about getting trapped?

I think they try to say he got tricked/pranked? But I don’t see what the video they share has to do with anything. It’s just him standing there.

Edit: ah I get it now

If Slaf play like that every game, use his physic, more meaner, this guy will be a gamebreaker for many years to come.

That's why they give him a big contract already, he just need consistency!!
Fact: at 24 years 6’3. 250 and the added man strength, Slaf will be an immovable force. Brady Tkachuk is probably up there with Patrick Maroon as the slowest forward in the NHL. He’s still one of the most effective NHLers because he can create time and space just by being big, tall and strong.
