2 of the 3 playoff games we won last season were on the road with Coyle and Zacha as our top 6 centers, and I think those two games were by far the best we looked in that series. Can they do it for a whole, or multiple, series? Idk, but it might be time to stop doubting those two until they give you a reason to. Every time they've been asked to step up they have.
at this point Zacha has proved he cant be a 1c even with Pasta as his winger. but Coyle man, he looks every bit the 1c with Marchand or Frederic on the wing. I honestly like a Marchand-Coyle-Frederic 1st line, not joking.

DeBrusk - Zacha - Pasta is a great 2nd line to beat matchups

JVR-Geekie-Heinen is a great third line

4th line needs more jam factor and again the bruins need a gryz replacement and a playoff ready RD3. I trade for Tanev and wait till july to sign Hanifin.

Good interview, kid seems sincere, makes you want to pull for the kid.......

Yeah and you can hear him talk and see the Bruins influence when he talks about it used to be how he only cared about scoring goals, and has now learned and developed his game and is functioning as a PKer etc. Honestly scoring goals can get you there if you are able to score a LOT of goals, but if you are not a top line guy you really do need to learn how to be a 200 foot guy, and kill penalties etc.

I do like the idea of this line a lot more than the line with Garland on it someone suggested earlier

I'm really looking forward to seeing him play.

Expectations are in check. But this is the kind of call up we need to make before looking at depth moves at the deadline. If Richard can click, it makes things so much easier.

Love that he has an elite attribute (speed) and seemingly a good attitude. Rooting for him for sure

Saw a tweet that said the Sabres are shopping Casey Mittelstadt hard cause they don't want to pay him. Don't really know much about the player if I'm being honest, but a 25 year old C/LW that's on pace for around 70 points right now seems like about as good a fit as there can be for us. Only making 2.5mil now, and due for a pay raise this summer is also kinda a perfect contract scenario for us as well.

In line with this thinking, does Wotherspoon eliminate the need for a depth D with how he is playing?

In-house > Acquisition

Seems like something clicked for him last year, he was pretty effective in Montreal in his cup of coffee. Was a star in the AHL. Almost back to a ppg for Providence

Go make some people above you on the depth chart uncomfortable kid!

If Monahan got a 1st, Mittelstadt will be pretty expensive in the pick/prospect dept, especially since he is finally coming round to his pre-draft expectations. We're slim on the picks and people aren't willing to give up Lysell or Lohrei. We're more suited for a 3rd or 4th line guy/veteran presence.

I don’t really care what they do as long as it’s not a rental. If they target someone make sure he’s with the team long term. Management has dealt away far too many assets over the past 5+ years only to have nothing to show for it shortly after.

I think this will be a summer time move if Sweeney misses his center in Free Agency.

Always need a depth D. Sweeney learned that years ago.

We always have 1 or 2 injured. Need solid vets that can step in and fill holes.

You need depth. I just don't think you are getting guys who I would rather play than Lohrei, even Mitchel , Regula

And they don't have cap space to have guys hanging around making 1-2 million as depth pieces

anyone know why we haven't put Poitras on LTIR yet? like I'm pretty sure there's no cap incentive there, so what's the deal? Cause they could LTIR him and then have enough room to carry a full 23 man roster if they wanted, and they just aren't for some reason.

Hanafin is looking for 8M.

I guess only the departure of Linus would make sense for us to be in the running for that? Or the departure of Jake I guess.

Kind of crazy that Gryz + Forbort is almost 7M. Another way to think about it. Then it becomes the era of Wotherspoon and Lohrei on the cheap.

Sometimes it’s true though.

There are three entities in every game played.

Team 1
Team 2
Refs

Sometimes one team outplays the other to such a degree that bad officiating doesn’t have an effect.

Sometimes the refs do a competent job and whatever the outcome, it is just.

Sometimes one team barely outplays the other and the refs effect the outcome in their favor.

Sometimes the team that gets outplayed gets bailed out by the refs.

Sometimes the refs make egregious calls that directly effect the outcome.

Sometimes the refs inexplicably don’t make an obvious call that directly effects the outcome.

I find the attitude that what the refs do or don’t do doesn’t matter is as lazy a take as there is.

It doesn’t make one more objective or rational than those who complain about the officiating.

They're just complaining about something different.

The fact is, the refs in this league are generally mediocre….at best.

To discount the effect that they have on a game, especially in light of obvious mistakes is just silly.

Every week, at least, they can and do cost teams points in the standings.

ya there’s an overemphasis on refs costing the bruins games almost every loss though. But we never see people on this forum saying the refs handed us a win lol.

Wonder why that is

I think you are placing the importance of the refs in game determination way, way too high.

If there is an incorrect call on an actual goal, that would be big. But that doesn't happen anymore. They can watch replay. Bad (from fans view) penalty calls don't determine outcome. They don't change the score of the game. And they are judgement calls, not cut and dry like a goal being scored.

I can't recall the last time I thought the outcome of a Bruins game was directly determined by the refs.

I wonder if his price to sign in Calgary is higher than his price to sign in Boston....if he truly wants to be here

If Hanifan is looking for 8M tell him he can come home...............but only for a visit...
