I was honestly a little worried that Hertl - Couture - Granlund / Eklund - Sturm down the center was going to raise us annoyingly high in the standings. I think this is great for the Tank and super excited to see what Eklund can do.

I had this one little thought that Hertl came back after the All-Star game and was like, yeah, Mike, trade me. And Grier was like okay, get that surgery done now so you can play in the playoffs…

You just know he had Pastrnak in his ear all weekend.

Something tells me Logan's lingering groin injury may put him on the shelf as well. We may be rolling down the middle with Eklund, Storm, Carpenter and Todd

Yeah, that’s true. But like with Hertl and Ferraro, Granlund has another year on his contract. All of our pure rentals are terrible.

Brutal for Tomas. Makes it even more impressive how good he’s been this season. Hope he has a smooth recovery!

I’m definitely ready for #1C William Eklund season.
Just another example of what if with his knees. Seems low impact but its definitely concerning for his longevity.

It doesnt sound like Logan is going to last much longer either.

I feel for Tomas. It’s really kind of sad that people on here are looking at how this can make us worse. I just can’t get used to that.
You can be sorry for a player and happy for the impact on the team's draft position, and also enjoy a win and also be happy for a loss, all at the same time. Or if not you, then a lot of us.

Different fans are different. Sorry you can't get used to it.

I dunno, I’m still not all that concerned about Hertl. It was something that he was successfully playing through, nothing serious.

Couture, though, he’s looking pretty done. Feel horrible for him. I really do hope he can make a full recovery, but yeah. Shut him down at this point.

Knee scopes are so minor these days that I agree. The "floating knee cartilage" is jargon for meniscus deal and those are 2-4 weeks usually. Probably on the longer end for Hertl, but not a huge issue overall. Only issue would be any effect on his trade value, but most informed GMs and team doctors can see this for what it is as something pretty minor.

Just saw that Hertl will be out a few weeks with a knee injury. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Couture was back and the Sharks were winning to much.

Unfortunately this probably means Hertl won't be traded so that kinda sucks. Maybe he wasn't anyway, but now is about the time the Sharks should think about doing stuff.

Yea I'm kinda thinking an early retirement (LTIR styled) is totally on the table for Couture. He's definitely got the brains and hands still but his stamina is gone and he literally can't skate without pain.

He strikes me as someone who's gonna struggle this year and maybe even next, but have a pretty stellar last couple of years when he's healthy again.

Yeah, I can see him taking the rest of the year / summer off, even the first few months of next year, just to let it all heal and come back in 2025. I mean at this point, I’d rather he take a significant amount of time off to fully heal than ruin the rest of his career.

Eklund - Granlund - Sturm - Carpenter down the middle is going to be WILD. We’re the San Jose Eklunds now.

I’m sad for Tomas but it seems like an easy surgery and wise for him to do it now.

I still watch most games and want them, innately, to win — but I also think getting Celebrini this year would really quicken the rebuild and as an impatient person, I’m okay sacrificing an already-lost season and getting the best possible draft pick out of it over playing ourselves into like 27th place for very little gain.

I don’t want Hertl and Couture to be hurt but I also see the value in us being very bad so we can be good faster.

Now I got a notification that Couture is out week to week with a nagging groin injury. Just in time for the trade deadline too.

Sharks might be more cursed than the 49ers.

There was virtually no chance Couture was being traded at the deadline. Very little chance Hertl is either and if a team wants him bad enough, he’ll be ready for the playoffs anyway.

I guess we need to keep pace with Chicago and Bedard is coming back, but Chicago is a terrible team.

Right now our #1 center is a rookie who hasn’t played center in NA for more than a few games and our #2 center was a cap dump. Also, we may trade away a couple of vets at the deadline…

I think we’re pretty terrible too and we don’t have a Bedard-type that can win games by himself. It’ll be close, we’re all f***ing awful.

It's not like his game is predicated on the things that disappear with age. He's never been fast or physical. He's a smart player, very cerebral and willing to do whatever's necessary. Healing up may be the best thing for him.

Thankfully neither are on long high cap hit contracts
