Take Goodrow and Perreault, give them Hertl. Win win for everyone.
Hmm Adam Graves still works there... (I might be misremembering but I seem to recall Adam Graves being butthurt about Tomas Hertl's fourth goal against NY back when Hertl was a rookie)

EDIT:
I had the wrong old Adam. It was Adam Oates not Adam Graves. My bad.

Damn all this time I've called for a Hertl heel turn, but now I realize that would've been a gr8 time for an Adam graves heel turn either against the sharks or the rangers

I don't think the Rangers will give up Perreault unless they think he's overrated...which would be a flag.

When the Sharks were contending, would they have traded Couture or Hertl for an aging #1 center on a long-term contract?

I mean Hertl is only 30 years old, so he probably has another 2-3 very good years left, and he also matches up age-wise with Zibanejad, Panarin, Kreider, and Trouba. I also think the Couture/Hertl to Perrault comp is kind of inaccurate...

I'm sure the Rangers do that deal if Drury completely loses his mind. Otherwise, not.

Perreault is not the equivalent of a young Couture or Hertl though. He's just a guy who scores because he plays with a guy who generates secondary assists (but assist nonetheless) like it's nobody's business. Most of the time the secondary assist is the true 'big play' that springs the easy scoring chance. Viktor Hedman for example, so many secondary assists.

Then the Sharks should go for something better.

Basically, if Perrault is really a top-tier prospect, he's too valuable to trade. If he's in tier below that, then he isn't worth Hertl + taking on Goodrow's contract.

Why? It's not like Perrault has the Laf draft pedigree or something.

You're telling me that if the Sharks were in their prime contending years (let's say when Marleau/Thornton were 32/33, Burns/Pavs 29/30, Couture 25/26) wouldn't have traded Mike Hoffman (except with 3 years left on his deal) + Musty for a 30yo top-end 2C/low-end 1C even though he's signed for another 6 years? I'm sure they would have and said f*** it, we'll deal with the not so great looking 2-3 years at the end later.

Traded Coyle, Norris, and 4 first round picks over a period from 2011-2019. So basically traded 6 first rounders trying to chase a Cup with that group. Couture is a bad faith argument since he was far more highly viewed as a top 10 pick rather than a guy in the 20's.

NYR were a team that wanted to trade for Lindholm, but wanted to extend him as part of the deal. So taking on salary and term for 30 year old centers is hardly something that they appear to be worried about at this juncture.

If we were to offer Hertl for Perreault + Goodrow + 2025 1st then I think that's a pretty fair deal. Would take about a 2nd rounder to move Goodrow's money for the final 2 years. So basically looking at the difference between a 1st and 2nd + Perreault for Hertl which is probably fair (if not slightly undervalue for us - though Hertl has a NMC which likely lessens value as well).

Sounds like a fairly minor knee scope though... probably 2-6 weeks missed. Great news for the tank honestly. Gives us a chance at finishing last again... Especially if Logan is also out. Granlund-Eklund at 1C-2C is not a recipe for team success even if it's gonna be fun to watch and good for Ek's development.

I feel like you could get a 1st or 2nd for Granlund seeing how it's a bit of a centers market this year.
Yeah, that’s true. But like with Hertl and Ferraro, Granlund has another year on his contract. All of our pure rentals are terrible.

Well it should help the tank.. brutal

Brutal for Tomas. Makes it even more impressive how good he’s been this season. Hope he has a smooth recovery!

I’m definitely ready for #1C William Eklund season.
