The audacity of a player not wanting to be loyal to the team and city that drafted him and he's spent basically half his life in.
Yeah, I don't get it personally. If a player wants to stay through losing, he has his reasons and it is his contractual right to do so. For a team in our situation, it just doesn't matter. They're going to suck at least through Vlasic's contract so why worry about it? People better buckle up because it's going to be bad for a while longer.

Also, some players I Imagine would feel almost like it was a tainted win if they just got thrown onto a competitive team. I feel like he'd rather be a main contributor to a team's success than the NHL's equivalent to a make-a-wish foundation.

I was also going to say it's probably a little early for him. I had the same negative opinion about Couture but he still has 4 years left on this deal and may even be able to sign another after if he keeps up like Pavelski. I wouldn't be surprised too if he may have been discouraged by all of Thornton, Pavelski, and Marleau trying to chase cups but all still failing. They all uprooted their families at the end of the day for no reason, so why would he?

Vlasic I do despise though partly because of Wilson but also Vlasic himself. Has always seemed like he plays hockey so that he can live the lifestyle rather than him wanting to win.

Wrong. Vlasic plays hockey now so that he can spend the rest of his days paddle boating with his dogs without a care in the world other than what gourmet food to feed his dogs next.

I just can’t believe how entitled some fans are saying a player has to only care about a shinny cup it they think less of them.

I get as fans we want our team to win a cup but to act as of these players are emotionless robots whose sole purpose is to provide a cup for us as fans so we have something to cheer for in life is utterly ridiculous and entitled.

These men while being very well paid sacrifice so many things in their personal lives to play a game for a living. To say moving a family with a newborn for “only a few years” or saying if someone doesn’t want to move to a city they don’t want to live in just for a less than 20% chance of getting their name on a trophy, is completely insensitive to these players as humans.

I really appreciate that they're playing out the Couture heel turn over a long time to build it up with layers of ambiguity rather than doing the cheap shock value, stab-Hertl-in-the-back-out-of-nowhere heel turn

I don't care if it's because of his family, I don't care if it's because he likes the locker room atmosphere, I don't care if there's a sandwich shop down the street he likes that he doesn't want to move away from.

I remember this same stuff with Shane Doan wanting to remain in Arizona and it annoyed me then too. If Couture wants to go pursue a cup, that's fine. If he wants to remain in San Jose, that's fine too. It's his life. Thinking "less of him" for doing so is the part that is making me call you out on this.
I guess to quote Wilson about Brad Stuart, I don't want players who just want to live here.

Yeah! Sharks are in last place as many experts had predicted. We are truly a bottom feeder. Race to the bottom baby.
I'm surprised to see Edmonton and McDavid down there with us. There were predicted with to win the Conference. It's still early.

I think there's also something to be said for Couture being the captain now and feeling extra responsibility with that role. Some would say it's admirable for a captain to go down with a sinking ship rather than jumping overboard into a life raft while leaving the kids behind.

I think this is just as important as anything else. I've never been particularly impressed by him as a captain, but sticking around to try to be a stabilizing presence on a team that's had a whole lot of turnover lately would be admirable at the very least.

The premadonna way he's acted his almost 18 year career with the Sharks...? WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALASKA! I thought you were a superfan!

Also, his comments about the Olympics. Crosby saying something sure, but not a fringe (at the time) defensemen possibly not even going to make the team in the first place. Guy should be thankful he got to play in one olympics and win at that.
I appreciate you recognizing me as a superfan!

I'm a little confused by your "garbage tier Grier" label. To me it indicates there are different Griers out there, different tiers of Grier, which then makes me wonder, are we all living in a Sharks multi-verse where these different Griers exist?

Because really, that's the only way I can make any sense out of your repeated slanderings of the guy.
You cracked to code we are currently experiencing Garbage Tier Grier but with any luck he’ll become Premier Tier Grier

I have only the utmost of respect for Couture for sticking it out. What if his priorities go Win Cup with Sharks > hang out on the Sharks >>> win Cup with some other lame team?

Would you also say that every single UFA that does not sign with a contender is uncompetitive?

Our current scouting director was scouting director for the Blue Jackets when they drafted Foudy 18th overall. Don't know how much say he has on the pro side but I wouldn't be surprised by a claim.
