Gary Suter.

Niedermayer only chose Anaheim because of brother. Stamkos met with Sharks brass/owner.

There was another big name who was interested in coming but Sharks didn't have ability ($$ permission) to sign more than a decade ago. (I'm not remembering the rumored name)

Depends on age (how close to retirement) and whether winning cup is a top priority in the near future. And/or player wants a challenge to change "fortune" (assumed winnability) of team.

We had also traded for his rights the week before free agency began (back when that was a thing). He publicly stated that the showing of commitment was a deciding factor in signing with the team.

It's interesting...imagine the Sharks had kept Noesen for another year and he blossomed in a Teal uniform. Suddenly, the reclamation projects rate looks a lot better!

The only thing resembling an edge for like 10/13 forwards is their skate blades. In this case I think they need much more than Smith.

Imagine Grier not signing Benning/Burroughs and then using that money + a little extra on Gudas instead, also allowing Gawanke/Emberson a spot to actually play.
After his playoff run, I’m sure we were at the top of Gudas’ list.

I'm still ok with that deal. I think Kunin could be in for a solid season. But I've always been a fan of him.
Same. In hindsight, knowing he was going to carve up the lineup and accumulate a boatload of picks, dropping a third on a decent lotto ticket wasn’t a big deal.

Leo Carlsson, the second overall draft pick in the 2023 draft, had to be helped off the ice at Ducks practice after sustaining an injury on Friday, according to Derek Lee of The Sporting Tribune. Carlsson reportedly couldn’t apply pressure on his right foot after the forward lost an edge during a 1-on-1 rush drill and collided with the boards, The Sporting Tribune's Felix Sicard relayed.

I am confused. How is this related to the topic? :m-eek:

Is it just me that’s at least thinking about Denisenko on waivers? He hasn’t shown much in the NHL yet and we likely have better players but he was pretty good in the AHL and hasn’t really been given a chance in the NHL. I kind of look at Tippett who wasn’t great with FLA and then went to PHI and broke out almost immediately.

Sharks didn't claim him, Vegas did.

Probably their Comtois (PTO) replacement.

A lot of teams are happy with how their rosters are set currently. Peterson gets claimed if waived during the season with injuries and failed expectations start occurring.
This is pretty much why I'd waive Knyzhov and not demote Thrun. It's a risk but it's the best time to try it and honestly, I think Knyzhov would benefit from a hopefully extended, healthy run of games with the Barracuda, whereas Thrun's game looks more polished right now.

The problem is they have 4-5 defensemen they should waive *before* they should even think about waiving Knyzhov.
