Reverse points order, so Sharks at #2. Nothing new. Sharks listening to offers on their 7 UFAs, and others with term.
I sadly don't think we'll be as busy as some think.I think Grier is going to have a quiet week and a very busy deadline day.

I think we’re going to be last minute panic buys.
Forgot Makar there, now the value is even.We will for sure be adding Crosby, malkin, guentzel, McDavid, ullmark, Nylander, hanifin, dahlin.
Not ideal.
Probably is the extra year.I know they say nobody looks good in SJ this year but Granlund has put up decent numbers while being a complete player. He may not have the size and physicality that some GMs overpay for but he’s a guy I would target for a playoff run.
Move him next season if you don’t get the return you want. Not like he’s blocking the spot of any young deserving prospects. He always plays a style of game that I’d want around the youthProbably is the extra year.
Sure. But my point is probably not a lot of teams are looking at him because of the extra year.Move him next season if you don’t get the return you want. Not like he’s blocking the spot of any young deserving prospects. He always plays a style of game that I’d want around the youth
22 Granlund
26 Duclair
31 Hoffman
40 Kahkonen
48 Labanc

Impossible to overstate what a worthless pile of crap DW left behind.TL;DR "I don't like the guy, a late pick"
Not that I blame them, but this team surely is in shambles.![]()
There is one player on that list that was there when DW was there.Impossible to overstate what a worthless pile of crap DW left behind.
Doesn't change the fact that the only asset Grier inherited of any significance was Timo. There is one player on that list that was there when DW was there.
You can draw a direct line from assets acquired under DW and some of the assets on that list. This feels like a huge stretch to put blame on DW when really it was just guys getting older. The crazier thing to me is that there’s one player on that list that Grier wasn’t forced to acquire.Doesn't change the fact that the only asset Grier inherited of any significance was Timo.
Most rebuilds have the benefit of starting with at least a handful of roster players who can fetch a real return. Treliving didn't even do a great job in Calgary but Conroy still has like five dudes he can trade for high picks and prospects.
What DW left for Grier in terms of overall asset value and cap/contract efficiency was the worst in the history of the cap era which is why this rebuild is probably going to take much longer than others.
On the other hand, Sturm and Benning, when healthy, have actually looked good, and will still have value in their expiring years. I will agree he made a few bad signings like Lindblom in particular. Grier also tried to get some expiring vets like Duclair, and Hoffman to add to his long list of expiring deals like Labanc, Barabanov, Kahkonen, etc. The big problem is most of them have had terrible seasons so there's no value to sell them with. You can draw a direct line from assets acquired under DW and some of the assets on that list. I know we’ve talked about this before but this is my other issue with the length of these contracts Grier is signing. Benning, Burroughs, Sturm, etc. could all have at least a little bit of value at the TDL right now but they still have so much term on their deals that they don’t have value.
