Well we could add others but the 1/2 punch down the moddle would be insane , ala Sakic / Forsberg

Remember the Pens, Red Wings and past Avs had 2 stud centers and won multiole Cups.

Just pointing that out. The centers ie Lindholm Dubois and Miller aren't that and not even close.

Toews wouldn't be leaving he'd be staying.

I wonder what the Avs record is without Makar in the lineup as opposed to without Toews. And then factor that record with Petterson in the lineup.

Also consider a full Byram breakout which a few of you don't seem to think will happen but when it does.

Keep up the sarcasm all you want it's easy to protect yourself that way.

Can we afford Makar when the window closes and will he stay ?



All things must be considered. As of right now he is having a hard time playing over 25 mins and staying healthy

I'm not saying to.do it for sure just something to ponder.

Also Inthink the Canugks say no. 5hey readybjave Hughes and he had a better season than Makar last year ( hate to say It ) doesn't make any sense for them anyhow
 
I'd obviously like to keep EJ for sentimental reasons but if someone offers him more than one million or one season then good luck son, I look forward to your post-retirement role in the organisation.

I would trade Newhook+ for Rossi, if true the Mild want to move on from him.
 
Other than Girard, what weapon do we really have to trade for these top fishes? Our 1st is only worth the equivalent of a 2nd. I feel like we're going wolf hunting with a sling... I'm not expecting them to be able to pull it off with the big names like Lindholm or PLD. Other teams will have better things to offer...

Depends how Newhook is viewed around the league. I have a feeling he's worth more than what HFboards thinks.

Legit question--what makes you think that?

The prospect shine is off him, and I think a lot of the teams have an "Alex Newhook" type player. Someone who clearly has talent, but isn't in the right role and doesn't appear to have a good fit on their current team.

How exactly do you manage to come to that conclusion?


Our 1st isn't even a super late 1st this year. There's 5 more picks behind us in the 1st round.


But beyond that... Lindholm is a UFA in a year, same with PLD if he wants to go that route. They have a capped value realistically.

I'd say look at what Horvat got and that's roughly what PLD/Lindholm should return.
 
I think Newhooks value at this point is that of a super late 1st or early 2nd, basically a pick in the 30-40 range. He's in the NHL already and a proven "reliable" 15G/35 point player. But there's definitely concern around his upside at this point and whether he can be more then that or not.


When you look at the fact Laughton just got offered a 1st + 2nd and was rejected for fairly similar stats... Newhook definitely still has decent enough value. Especially if teams still think he can be a Center.


I look at a package of #27 + Newhook as essentially 2 1st round picks in value. It's a pretty good package for any 1 year rental tbh.

Grab Toffoli and Lindholm tbh. Toffoli would be a nice Top 6 forward replacement for Gabe.
