I understand what you're saying, but you're trading away and letting go our 4th and 10th best scorers this last season. On top of Landy not returning, Bura / Kadri gone, that's a bit of production we need to bring in, and we still haven't re-signed Rodrigues.

We are an offensive Powerhouse, and need the numbers to be able to play on our toes.

In my opinion, we haven't been a team that has an openness to drastic change. Some people have argued that we need like 10 players in and out. In my view, it's the loyalty and consistency that's added to our continued strength despite injuries, so for mine, the status quo is my weapon of choice.

Plus, to be honest, I get heartbroken when any of our players leave. Literally tears heartbroken haha.

That's honestly why I hope we can fit all of EJ, Newy and JT in, then possibly add 1/2 players tops to strengthen us. With that consistency and added depth, I truly think we win a cup next season..
Honest question, is the Avs mascot holding a gun to your head each time you post on here?

I'm sad to see EJ possibly go. Guy deserves to retire an Av and then get a coaching gig. Persevered through the terrible years, was an absolute rock for the team and sacrificed everything he could to help the team get to the cup. Also the embodiment of the team's culture.

Hope he finds his way back in some form.

I'm curious what he signs for. If he signs for $2M+ then I get it from a cap perspective.

But if he signs in the $1-2M range, I think it could be a mistake to let him go, because they'll be hard pressed to find a better third pair D man at that price, unless they bring in a good young defenseman on an ELC.

Not to mention the learning curve adjusting to the Avs system with someone new.

Part of it could just be dependability. EJ gets hurt…a lot, which then leads to depth guys playing more.

The city itself isn't too bad. Alberta is the lowest cost of living city in Canada with an NHL team (Winnipeg is lower but living is not how I'd describe residing in Winnipeg).

In the past they've been able to attract some UFAs (like Kadri just last year or that defenseman from the Islanders).

What's gone wrong there?
Alberta is the worst province in Canada

For me anyway. I hate that place with it's brown grass and stinky lakes , not to mention the cowboy redneck oil idiots.

Too far from the ocean to boot

Yeah but at the $1-2M price range, it's ok if they don't play all the games.

The Avs are gonna have their injuries. It's about having the right depth to compensate for it.

With EJ at $1-2M and Landy's LTIR money, that would allow them to spend a little more on another decent defenseman.

Chances are they'll have to bring in another big defensive defenseman to compensate for the loss of what EJ brings, and that type of player is probably going to be an injury risk too.

What?! That’s absolutely ridiculous
I hated it feels like you qere dropped in the middle of nowhere. But Im an east coast guy anyhow. Ontario Quebec has some beautiful places , Newfoundland is a gem but the Martimes for me.

There is just no ocean there and nothing to do, no hardwood trees with the leaves turning , the lakes get so stinky and full of algae you can't swim or stand the smell.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba in particular don't have that .

Manitoba is beautiful

To each there own but I can see why they want out especially if u have kids.

Let Makar go back if it's so great

That’s fine. If Avs get Lindholm he’ll be playing with damn good players. He’d do well with Mikko on his wing

Lehkonen-Lindholm-Rantanen

All that Lindholm only plays good with good line mates can be said for many other players. Wasn’t that also true for Naz? He never played as good as he did last year with the Avs when he had great line mates

If we don't get Lindholm, Toffoli is another great option out of there. Be nice to get both and extend Lindholm.

Meh.

Dude is absolutely cooked as a player. Was terrible for us last year. If some team is dumb enough to give him $1M+ on a new deal(And I bet he gets $2M honestly) then they cant keep him. That's just wasting cap space on a player that's a #7/8D at best these days.

He should have retired this summer and then been able to retire as an Av. Or taken a league minimum deal with us to be the #7D. But if he wants anymore then that the Avs absolutely have to let him go.

Nova Scotia for me , Mack built a big pad in Cape Breton off the highlands links #2 golf course. Quite a view

Yeah, he’s pretty much saying trade me now or lose me after next season
I think he's overated and wants to much money honestly. I cant see it

Dubois too for that matter
