Quickly thrown together with a bit of thought.
Next off-season has 13.2m with 16 players signed with only toews, texier and Lindholm needing extensions plus minor contracts

Trade 1 and 2 wont happen. No way Calgary or Philly do that trade 1 for 1.

Regarding EJ: So it´s safe to say the Condor flies away..... Damn. The end of an era. Now Mac, Makar and Rants are the leaders of this team. No Landy, no EJ in the room.

Could see Anahim as fit for EJ. Close to his home, they have the cap and could use some veteran in the locker room during their rebuild.

Yeah the trades need more thought, it was more to see how much room we'd have next season.

Boston is absolutely up against it with the cap. Was reading on the Athletic they may have to trade Matt Gzelcyk for cap space. It's too bad we're not exactly swimming in space ourselves because that could be a very good pickup for some team.

I'm ready for an(extended) Lindholm now.

I would be a bit surprised if Lindholm was willing to sign a contract with any club right now, unless someone gave him a ridiculous offer. That dude is 12 months away from doing whatever he wants, most guys go straight to that.

Most quality NHL players actually don’t go straight to that. Most either re-up with their current team in advance or are traded to another team they eventually re-up with.

There’s a reason why JT Compher is arguably the best UFA centre on the market this year. Teams are becoming more and more proactive in getting a sense of a player’s desired direction in advance.

We're about to find out. My bet is he doesn't.

How exactly do you manage to come to that conclusion?

Our 1st isn't even a super late 1st this year. There's 5 more picks behind us in the 1st round.

But beyond that... Lindholm is a UFA in a year, same with PLD if he wants to go that route. They have a capped value realistically.

I'd say look at what Horvat got and that's roughly what PLD/Lindholm should return.
It's from a blend of what GMGB shared a while ago, about his experience with dealing his 1st round picks as a contender and the literature that demonstrates that after the top 15-20ish picks, the incremental value between a late 1st and a second isn't that big. Many fans throw around the notion of "trading a 1st" or "trading a 2nd" as if they were a fixed commodity (other than say top 10). But there is a lot more difference in value between the 27th pick and the 17th pick than there is between the 27th and the 37th pick. In reality, we shouldn't say "trade a 1st", we should say "trade the 16th pick" or "trade the 27th pick", we would realize more easily how large of a gap in value there is between different offers including 1st rounders, or how little between offers with a late 1st vs another with a 2nd..

And 27th absolutely IS a super late pick IMHO.

Honestly I'd be stunned if EJ isn't a Duck next year now knowing he won't be there. Just makes too much sense. Probably could get a reasonable offer to come in a be veteran presence in a younger locker room. Plus he can just live in his California home.

For the Avs anything between the 11th overall to a 7th rounder are basically the same pick.

I am curious about Jordan Staal's next contract. Seems like a guy who might fall off a cliff rather soon but he is still a phenomenal 3C
Soon indeed. He's turning 35 in september. He may or may not have another decent year left in the tank. Wouldn't sign him for more than one year and he's probably looking for 3.

Orlov would make no sense. Might as well just re sign Toews who‘s younger, better, and at worst will cost roughly the same as Orlov anyways.

Based on what I have read you aren’t giving up enough for Laughton or Lindholm. The rumor for Laughton is that the Flyers turned down a first and second for him. Lindholm is probably valued at or around Horvat. So while Girard may be better than Beavillier but has a slightly longer cap hit and provides less roster flexibility.

No clue on the other trades/signings.
