I don't want either of those guys. I thought Hayes could have been a decent solution at the deadline if they failed to acquire a better player but they shouldn't set their sights on a guy like that when players like Scheifele, Dubois and maybe Lindholm are potentially available.
I don't think Hayes should be a top option. I think he's always been overrated but the main reason is he's overpaid. So retention would help with that.
Tippett I think could fit in well on this Avs team though. They could use another Burakovksy type game breaking sniper. That's what Tippett is. I think he's pretty good with zone entires too, which usually means someone will fit in well on the Avs. Scored 27 goals with a bad Flyers team, so he's a good bet to score 30+ with the Avs.
Scheifele I also think is a bit overrated and I don't think they should target a pending UFA. They won't have any high end assets they can afford to lose after they trade Girard/Toews, so they need to use this opportunity to address 2C for at least a few years like with the Kadri trade.
Dubois, I'd put at the top of my list if he comes with at least a three year extension. Two years isn't enough IMO and one year likely means he'll test UFA.
Lindholm, I'd love to get, but I'm not sure Florida will part with him.
Oh yeah haha. I read that as Lundell for some reason.
Seems as though Conroy wants to make re-signing Lindholm a priority and he may now with Sutter gone.
If not he should be a top candidate if he comes with an extension.
I don't think we will have the coinage for a 3C at that price tag, if we ever get a real 2C.I would. He’d be a solid 3C for that price IMO
Probably, at least not for next year. The following year the cap supposed to go up to 88 or 89 mill, but then they have to resign Toews unless they decide not to keep him in which case they should trade Toews IMOI don't think we will have the coinage for a 3C at that price tag, if we ever get a real 2C.

Yikes, the Kings got bent over backwards in that trade.
Obviously, they are not done yet.Cheapass CBJ paid a top team for retention and they have plenty of cap space.
Going to be just under 6 I think.I hope it’s not 6-7mil like rumored. That’d be f***ing mental.
Whose 1st did they give up ?They freed up $6M in cap space this year and another $3M in cap space next year, and did so without giving up a 1st round pick... That's hardly a bad deal for them.
Going to be just under 6 I think.
What's a realistic number on Toews if we go 8 years, over/under 7?We have a lot to figure out on the cap before making that assumption. There is a chance at a large jump, but the devil is in the details. Escrow getting paid off 6% escrow, CBA MOU dictating 2 seasons' prior HRR, RSN collapse, number of games played... etc.
I think there is a very solid chance we see Toews signing an extension July 1.
Jeez. That still seems high to me. Depends on term I guess though.Going to be just under 6 I think.

Then we trade him.Toews isnt signing for 1mil more than Gavrikov. He’s easily getting 8+.
Yes we shoukd but I don't think CMac has the wherewithal to do so.Then we trade him.
I honestly prefer the path of paying for more and sacrificing term. Especially defensemen like Gavrikov. Now he's not over 30, but the idea is kinda the same. I'd have rather paid Manson more for only having 2 years on the books vs dealing with the future years.Jeez. That still seems high to me. Depends on term I guess though.
