That’s “KHL Champ Vlad Kamenev” to you.

Speaking of which… 11 goals in 27 playoff games is nice to see. Bring him back and let him do woof with Nuke on game days.
Somehow Kamenev would still be the least energetic player on the ice.

That 11 goals just shows how far the KHL has fallen... even worse is that it was 2nd to Grigorenko with 12.

The thing about it is possibly timing. PLD might be traded around the draft. If the Lindholm being available thing happens, it's likely after that in July.

That timing actually sounds like it's right in the Avs wheelhouse. At least with Joe as GM. They don't mind waiting for the right deal.

Remember the last time they traded for a 2C, they didn't panic when the rumored Horvat deal didn't materialize when Joe was seen talking to Benning at the draft. Then he even did his UFA press conference before he traded for Kadri, posturing like he was willing to wait.

Maybe that works in their favor again this year, and other bidding teams drop out after adding UFA's, and Calgary realizes they can't sign Lindholm.

Perhaps. And I'd slightly prefer Lindholm too. However, that's a long limb to be out on if Lindholm commits to staying in Calgary and you've already missed out on PLD.

It might also be worth noting, even if Lindholm were to become available (after missing out on PLD), economics logic would mean Lindholm might be more expensive in theory due to scarcity.

Definitely a gamble. I think it would take their plan A falling apart (Dubois?), similar to the Horvat deal, for them to wait. And maybe a sense that Lindhom would become available.

The draft definitely seems like the most likely time for it to go down, but the Avs just don't rush into these deals. Ever.

Would you make the move for either if there's no extension or guarantee of extension?

Personally, only if they talked to the agent first and got an honest answer that he'd sign in Colorado, and they were close on their asking price. Making it one of those deals where an extension was signed a few days or weeks after.

I don't think it's wise at all for them to give up Girard or Toews, which will likely be the piece going the other way, for a one year rental. They won't have any expendable high end assets like that after they move them, and they don't have a 2C type prospect in the pipeline.

They have to make this deal count to address 2C for a few years like with Kadri. I think that's the Avs philosophy too. That's why they were set on re-signing Manson, so they didn't give up good assets for pure rentals.

Agreed - 100%. They have to have a deal or, at minimum, one that's imminent.

Chicago purposely trying to f*** with the market when they have a ridiculous abundance of cap space in a rebuild? Not a bad idea for them but f*** this is a bad contract lol

A 40 point middle 6 guy on a bad team… I’d say it’s about right on market. 600k more than Goodrow who is a 30is point guy. I think it speaks to where the market is really going more than an overpay.

Why are the Flyers wanting to trade Hart? If there was a draft ever to suck, it was this one and now they're doing their firesale afterwards. Hilarious organisation.

They want a full on purge. Which IMO is probably the right move. Actually accept a rebuild. Now Hart is young enough to come back through, but if you can get a 2nd + for him, I get it.

I still don't, you got Gibson on the Ducks in a similar situation where they went into full rebuild mode by keeping a number of core players like Terry, Fowler, Jones, and Silfverberg before selling Rakell and Lindholm. I would say that the Ducks are in a great position at the moment to build a contender and that was by being super-sucking and keeping a bunch of core blokes. I don't understand what getting rid of Hart does at the moment. It makes them absolutely worse, which will fill the top three selection quota, however, you can be just as bad and keep a potential goaler of the future.

I think Hart is overrated predominately by the Canadian media, but I like him a lot more than a lot of goalers in the league. He's better than the Flames, Canes, Penguins, Sens, Caps, Wings, Loliers, Blues, Habs, Leafs, Devils, Sharks, Kings, Sabres (not counting Levi), Hawks, and Coyotes tandem. That puts him in the top half of the league by my own standard and you can have the debate that could be between 8th and 12th on the individual spectrum.

If Dubois is actively being shopped the Avs should be in on that.

He’s a RFA, so you can sign him and solve the second line for the foreseeable future.

Toews, Newhook, and a 1st for Dubois, Appleton, and a prospect.

If it's somewhat of a struggle (as in overtures from WPG of going to arbitration and riding it out), it could be to the acquiring teams benefit in that it creates pressure for PLD to sign a deal with the acquiring team and maybe even for slightly less than what he might get in FA or using Horvat as a benchmark.

I’ve heard some rumblings that there’s going to be some shit come out soon on that 2018 world Junior team that isn’t going to be great. Not just about that one incident with that one girl in London.
I know you may or may not want to divulge this info, but did Frail Cale's name pop up anywhere by any chance? All we need now is another scandal after Nuke.

So PLD is almost certainly a draft day trade or earlier... They should be going hard after him.

I'd also approach signing Dubois in a different way as well. Offer him a 2 or 3x$7.5M deal. Let him get another big 7/8 year contract as a 29 year old UFA when the salary cap has jumped up a bunch.

We only have at absolute maximum, 2 or 3 cup runs left anyway.
