It's not valuing them similarly. It's more about what might motivate the other side.

Ok, I get that, I obviously would move anything not nailed down to solve the problem, but I'd hope they don't deal any young defenders that have legit NHL potential. Enough of that lol.

Edit.. I do also think they'll bring back one of JJ or EJ, but JJ has to chase every red cent, and no one should blame him. His family badly managed his money for years. I can't remember if he actually filed for bankruptcy though.

EJ might be the best choice out there as a vet #6 with a right shot for the money.

If they were to choose Behrens, you'd still have Girard (or possibly Toews) to possibly replenish.

As in trade for another young defender as part of the package? I get that, but it's also going to be more difficult I think to get that type of prospect, but maybe not.

I'm just saying in negotiations, don't fuel that fire lol.

Foudy, Malinski, and Beherens are the guys I'd try hard not to move, just my personal opinion.

The Avs CANNOT (and won't, imo) re-sign JTC because sometimes, you have to take certain players away from certain coaches.

Not sure about that. I was confused when I saw Bedsy sneak into CMac's office dressed as a janitor on clean out day. Then I saw the math equation left on the chalkboard.

People seriously need to go watch Scheifele play if you think he is the answer.

Offensively? Still pretty good.

Defensively? F***ing train wreck. Seriously, he might be one of the worst defensive forwards in the league today.
Well he puts in an effort if it’s a guy doing a wraparound into an empty net.

Getting excited (cautiously) for the off-season, it's always fun for speculation and the excitement of adding new players... who are your favorite player additions that got you fired up for the Avs that you can remember?

-Hannan / Smyth signings
-Duchene draft
-Mackinnon draft
- Kadri trade
- Pulushaj claim
My fav was replacing Forsberg and Foote with Turgeon and Brisebois.

Devon Toews.

Had no idea he was even available but I knew he was significantly better then what he had been given the opportunity to show so far with the Islanders. Seeing that we traded for him was absolutely amazing. Seeing that we didn't even give up much value for it was just icing on the cake.

The haul for the Duchene trade was pretty exciting as well. I remember how long that dragged out from from the draft all through that summer with nothing happening and all the media talk about how the longer it went on the uglier it was going to be for Colorado and how the value was likely diminishing... Then to see him get pulled out mid game against the Islanders and the anticipation of what the trade looked like, then when it finally was revealed that we essentially fleeced two teams at the same time was wild. Even when the discussion was initially around the idea that maybe Ottawa's 1st round pick would end up being in the mid teens, it felt like a huge win of a deal.

We didn’t know the Avs we’re getting him that day… we just knew the Cup was coming back when Kariya and Selanne signed.

I still wish they went all in that offseason. Get Leetch and Hatcher too, just be the absolute villains of the league.

It’s really unlucky that Selanne had been so beat down at that point. Kariya and Selanne both looked way better with that lockout break

We absolutely knew. That was a one horse race those few days that was all anyone was taking about.
We really didn’t… Detroit and Toronto were in the talks too. Philly iirc too. Colorado was one of the top teams in the chaise sure… it wasn’t a one team race though. Roy himself stated as such when he went in to the hall of fame.

It absolutely was. We had Quebecois goalies, they didn't. Still amazed the Habs didn't get Deadmarsh.

Again… Roy stated it himself. Bowman confirmed he had talks. It might be remembered that way so long later, but it just didn’t happen that way in real time.

The little known for a long time was that Roy was almost traded to Colorado (and Philly) prior. The basis was Nolan for Roy instead of Ozo from San Jose. And Leclair for Roy.

I've stayed out of this, but honestly you are unwilling to listen to reason and real information.

Do you think people who have been here for 10 plus years sharing info would deal with your shit and dismissive attitude if they didn't give a shit about the truth?

Seriously dude, take in some outside perspective.

Honestly if you don't and continue to be antagonistic, brash, unwilling to accept new ideas.

To me that means your trolling, and I'm going to report it as such. Get the damn point. I'm over your shit, if you're willing to keep going. I'm going to make a damn good case to shut you up for trolling.

It's not a threat it's a promise. You're just starting shit at this point. No one thought of that, but you qualify, and I'll make the case on my own.

That sentiment doesn't come from this post, or the one of your others, it's the 10 total of you just starting shit over and over with the next just dodging while you act like everyone has the responsibility to prove you wrong or they are wrong.

Classic trolling, zero reason or congruence in the conversation. You're trolling people that care about the truth. Get off it and walk away.

Free speech is a freedom I want here. You playing with it like a 6 year old being continuously devisive and adapting with no intention of finishing a conversation is seriously damaging my ability to listen to good people sharing their knowledge.

We've spent more than a decade building this community. Your perspective is important, but only if you go into the discussion in good faith. You're just messing with people willing to interact with you at this point.

Your move brother

I was following on my phone in Spain when the Avs signed David Jones to 4x4, added PAP, and were supposed to sign Matt Carkner but ended up with Greg Zanon.

I joined HF that summer.

They talked and in Detroit’s case Bowman has admitted he was doing damage control and knew they really put their foot in it. Look at the contemporary account from those four days it was an open secret they had To have a Québécois goalie coming the other way.

Since AVS have been AVS, they have been by light-years the best trading team in the NHL. Some of my favourites:

MAIN
1. Patrick Roy
2. Peter Forsberg
3. Rob Blake
4. Ray Bourque

LESSER
5. Peter Mueller (sorry, I loved him)
6. Tomas Fleischmann
7. Theo Fleury
8. Nazem Kadri
