I am going to vomit if they re-sign JTC as the 2C and state that last year was an unfortunate result of injuries and bad luck. That guy absolutely cannot be your second line centre, as it’s been proven beyond a doubt three separate times now.

There’s video of players rolling their eyes at Miller, like ‘here we go again’. I think he’s arrogant and he’s not good enough to pull it off.

MacK takes responsibility when the team loses. He owns it. He said he ‘hadn’t won shit’ before the Avs cup run. People ask him about being compared to Crosby and he says he’ll never be as good as Sid. MacK is a hothead, a competitor, but he’s got a selflessness to him.

I don’t know how people can’t see the growth of him from a leadership perspective from 4/5 years ago.

I don’t see hardly any resemblance between Miller and MacKinnon aside from the fact that they both run hot sometimes.
You’re buying too much into the details… and reactions around MacK exist too. Also Miller isn’t good enough to pull it off?! Dude was just a PPG on a bad team and was coming off a 99 point season. He has flaws, but he’s an excellent F hockey player.

Almost no hockey player is universally liked. Landy might be that guy, but he is a rarity in the NHL.

If they re-sign JTC as the 2C… the window is simply closed.

Preponderance of the evidence is good enough.

You are right and wrong in my opinion mate.

You were right that last year was an unfortunate result of injuries and bad luck, but I'm not sure how you can say that 52 points in 82 games, plus 8 is not worthy of a second liner? How many 3rd / 4th liners score at that rate?

Guess what, our season before this past one's second liner scored 56 points in 82 games, minus 19 this year in Calgary - paying him 7 million for the privilege.

Who did he play with anyways? Nuke only made the ice for 53 games. Rodrigues 69 games. Lehks played 64. Doesn't that mean JT was playing with Newhook, Malgin and Cogliano at times? Have you taken that into consideration?

Jeez everyone is a tough marker. 3.5 mill for that output is outstanding.

If acquiring a 5.5-6.5 mill 2C means we can't afford to re-up Toews and/or Byram, would that be acceptable to anyone criticizing JT, a player who just keeps on improving every single year, and one we should be thanking the stars plays for us - particularly as he's also a veteran and Stanley Cup winner?

No amount of positivity makes compher a 2C, sorry man.

Just... Yikes

JT Miller appears to be disliked by teammates.
Nathan Mackinnon is factually disliked by teammates.

I take both on my team with ease, every god damn day of the week.

Being universally “liked” and being “respected” are two completely different things. Those two expect a lot from their peers and they’re often vocal when they see something below their level of expectations but that competitive drive is part of what makes them who they are on the ice and they don’t expect anything that they aren’t already doing themselves at 100%.

Miller ain’t Mackinnon. But he’s a warrior. Go get him if he’s available but man they should have just done it at the deadline.

There is a big difference between Miller and MacKinnon. MacKinnon's difficultness comes from his intolerance for anything less than perfection. Miller is just a dick, it's not because of winning, losing or whatever...he's just a dick and I don't want that added to the locker-room. Everyone has talked about how close the team was the year we won the cup. You don't get that close when you have a big dickhead in the middle of the team eating up large cap spaces. This is how you divide a team, not unite them.

You can feel free to come back at me win JT Miller wins a cup, I'll eat my crow soup then.

If he continues to improve next season, I could easily see 60-70 points from JT, and that's right up there. He's all heart. He's gritty. He gets in the crease and tussles man. These are intangibles people will regret are gone if he signs elsewhere. And where else is his 52 points coming from? Landy, Naz, Bura aren't coming back next season for us.

Who has directly stated that they don't like MacKinnon, in terms of past or present teammates?

I've loved your stuff. But this is just insanity. The avs can't win with JTC as a 2C. It's been proven year after year. The year they win the cup was with him as 3C minus 5 games. We got abused by Seattle and Vegas, years where JTC was 2C both of those teams had depth that showed he just isn't cut out for being a top 6 center because other teams have better than him in their top 6.

If you honestly have faith in him, list the 2Cs on playoff teams that JTC is actually better than.

JT Miller can easily reach 60-70 points it’s just at what cost to us? Plus he is signed long term and we don’t have the money for that.
