Except I'm fully expecting ERod, Cogs and EJ back and possibly JJ. So that 7 quickly turns into 3-4.
With what money...

Plus you can add Malgin to the list not coming back. They only have 5F, 5D(One being MacDermid) and 2G signed right now.

They need 11 players signed. Even if you include Byram and Newhook as RFAs that are likely(Newhook isn't a certainty) coming back, that's still 9 players. If Girard gets traded, 10.

I thought he was RFA? Is his QO too high?

Arbitration is the issue with Malgin... he can file and could easily walk out with a $2m deal if it gets pushed that far. They wouldn't be able to walk away from the deal. Is that a risk the Avs are willing to take?

Ah, thanks. So they're probably negotiating now and if they can't get him to sign at the right amount they'll walk.
If they intend on keeping him, they are. No idea if that is the case though. Many of these fringe guys with good numbers just get let go.

No it's not - Malgin with either be re-signed cheap (around $1M) or he won't be qualified at all.

ERod won't get a ton, probably another 1 year deal, which probably comes from the Avs. If he didn't get a deal until late last offseason, why would he get a longer deal this offseason. What did he do differently this year to get a multi year offer from anyone?

Cogs, Malgin will most likely be back. As will EJ.

Not sure why you don't think these low money guys aren't coming back. The only one that's even really debatable is ERod.

I think you should be prepared for less moves. And lots of returning players on low 1 yr deals. It's not ideal but most likely what will happen. Teams rarely have large turnover. Especially when they aren't a low end rebuilding team.

ERod got offered a multi year deal last year and his agent told him to wait... that offer then evaporated. IIRC 3 years 10.5m. As for what he did... he simply proved 21-22 wasn't a fluke. Which was a major question last summer. I'd say odds are there will be a ~12-16m contract out there somewhere for him as more teams are gathering cap room.

Lol, ERod will absolutely get a big raise. He's going to get $3.5-4M on a multi year deal. Hopefully it isn't from us.

As for the rest... Why do you think they would come back??? EJ is awful these days, if they wanted Cogs back they would have gave him a 2 year deal last summer since that is what he wanted in the 1st place. Malgin has a case to get upwards of $2M in arbitration. The Avs absolutely cannot afford that and so he won't be qualified.

Honestly you just don't seem to have much of a clue about these guys situations with the comments your making... Especially ERod and Malgin.

If Newhook is the 2C to start the season this board is going to riot

If he is, it just means the Cup window has closed on this core. Simple as that really.
