Girard next offseason seems like an ideal team to move him. But the only reason it’s ideal is because of the big cap jump.

There are also several other factors at play here. First off, Toews needs to be signed. Secondly, his contract needs to be reasonable.

Unfortunately, until you have Toews locked up, there’s nothing to be done with Girard.

Avs should really look in to Kiviranta or Maenalanen to fill that 3RW spot. Both guys could have some untapped offensive potential, while providing great D and complimentary attributes.

Nosek should also be a no-brainer for the 4C spot. I know they say they wanna give the young guys a chance yadda yadda but the Avs are chronically injured so the kids will eventually get their chance, and if they're good enough to stick, then they stick. If not, then we aren't forcing Ben Meyers to play a role he's not suited for.

That doesn't mean every single position in the bottom 6 had to get grittier(He never said anything about bigger either). If that were the case they wouldn't have re-signed Cogliano.

That entire list of players would be an upgrade for the respective line they'd play on the Avs.
I’m still not use to agreeing with all your posts these days  But I agree. What are people expecting from players that are still unsigned? They aren’t going to be perfect, hence why most of the names left are only going to get a cheap 1 year deal.

How many people here liked the idea of bringing in JMFJ, Cogliano, or Helm? They were all washed up, over the hill vets before they came here and the the reception was lukewarm at best. But they all turned into great additions.

This right here.

Penciling in young players who haven’t proven they can play in the NHL is a risky proposition. Our young guys will get their chances when injuries hit. If we place them in the lineup on opening night, our call up options will be slim to none. Waivers and trades can be done, but why wait till crisis point hits.

This are the names you listed…

Tarasenko
Kane
Toews
Tatar
Sundqvist
Suter
Boqvist
Bailey
Motte
Parise
Zadina
Kessel

Tarasenko, Kane are definitely not a fit on the Avs. Toews is washed up. Don’t think he has any game left in him.

Out of those names maybe one of Sundqvist, Suter or Boqvist would be decent option but other than that, the rest are either washed up or just not a good fit for the Avs. Like I said, that list doesn’t really excite me all that much

Tank and Kane >>>> Druin

Parise would be fine in a bottom 6 role and bonus points for not having him score against us anymore

Motte would be a great fit here. Zadina would be a boom/bust type. Toews absolutely isn't wsshed up. He just isn't the player he was before but as a 4C he would quite frankly be elite in that role and someone who could easily move into the 3C spot if injuries hit down the middle.

Beyond that list though, and after looking a little further into it, there's a few other solid names as well. Zach Aston-Reese was one of the biggest hitters in the league last year, if that's what the Avs want he'd be an excellent 4th line option. Nosek would be another solid bottom 6 option with some size. Comtois would bring size.

The point is there's not just 1 or 2 names left. There's 10-15 guys in the UFA market still that would be an upgrade over the likes of Olofsson and Meyers who are currently penciled into our 4th line.

Sure but to say Tank and Kane don't fit the Avs is a bit simplistic. Both would be fine top 6 wingers
It’s pointless to talk about Kane or Tarasenko because Avs already got Drouin and RyJo to fill out their top 6. That’s why I’m saying right not they’re not a fit for the Avs

No one would talk about him here if his name was Smith and that's pretty much a fact.
Yeah Foote simply isn't that good. It's like people around here just think there is something of value to his game because his dad was good.

Wouldn't even begin talking with his agent, not at all the type of player the Avs should be interested in.

It's not like there's many options if we want to bolster our right shooting defenseman. There's Dumba, Bear and Foote available. That's it for UFAs. Dumba isn't happening. And I'd rather take a flyer out on the 6'4 24 year old vs the 5'11 26 year old.

Leaf fans think that they'll get rid of Jankrok and possibly Timmins for cap space.

If true I'd trade for both...that'd fix our two empty spots: 3LW and bottom pairing RD.

Total cap hit for both is 3.2M, we should be fine.

Gotta imagine it’s Murray being moved, no?

I’d take Jarnkrok for sure. Timmi would be cool too, but I’m not sure why they’d love him when he’s only at $1M.

I would like this not 68 times, not 70 times, but 69 times.
