No point responding to that clown. The Avs are clearly in a much better position heading into this season then they were last year.

Glad we aren't paying him that.
Engels: I’d estimate Alex Newhook is probably looking at a deal that will pay him $3-4 million per season.
My “kerfuffle” today was 1 more than I’ve had in my entire 14 year posting history on this board. I’ve reached my limit.
I know @nammerus is the eternal pessimist on this board. To each their own on how they view things. I also know that he does see some good positives from this offseason.
I have no doubt if the Avs did bad moves, or less moves, or didn’t address the massive holes, he’d be here pounding the table significantly more often.
Just looking to have a rational convo with him.
Could we afford Boqvist, sundqvist and Foote?

I was on board for Drouin at league min and penciled as the 13th forward. That top-6 shit is risky AF.The risk on Drouin looks minimal because of his AAV but it's pretty big because we are lacking another top 6er to replace him if he fails (and he's no stranger to failure).
There's also the fact that Ryjo is a reclamation project as well. Those two are penciled in our top 6 and it's risky business.
The Avs absolutely need another ERod type of player who can play anywhere in the top 9. They'll need him even if both Drouin and Ryjo succeed because players WILL get injured next year too.
I wouldn't mind a 6'4 24 year old right shooting defenseman on a cheap deal. He'll never be his dad, but there's worse bottom pairing options. With Manson's injury history, some RHD insurance could be a good thing too.I'd guess it's possible. But I feel unlikely.
Though the further into the summer those guys go without signing, the lower those contracts go.
Tbh I wouldn't want Foote though. He's just not very good. Would take the other two on ~1.5M deals though.
Being big doesn't really matter if you can't actually do anything on the ice though, look no further than MacDermid. And he's an awful skater.I wouldn't mind a 6'4 24 year old right shooting defenseman on a cheap deal. He'll never be his dad, but there's worse bottom pairing options. Toews would fit like a glove on this team. I would be jumping for joy if we signed him. Most disagree on him around here but I would have zero concerns about him were he to decide to keep playing. That is a veteran you can win cups with playing in your bottom 6.Jonathan Toews would be an exciting add tbh. I have no idea where his heads at, at this point in his career. If he's going to retire, chase one more good pay day, or if he just wants to win another cup.
But if it's the win a cup thing, that would be one hell of a 4C for us. I had no interest in trading for him at the deadline last year to be our 2C, but as a 4C faceoff specialist and a guy that can move up to 3C if/when injuries hit, that would be a great move.
He's 35+ as well so you can give him a bonus heavy deal and have him only count for league minimum this year. $800k base with up to $1.5M in bonuses for playing 25, 50, 75 games with us.

Honestly I think Malinski is going to be great for us. But I wouldn't hate the Avs grabbing a RD for depth and sending MacDermid to the moon, just not Foote. But thats pretty unrealistic I suspect.
Only the first 2 are NHL caliber...and we're not even 100% sure with Bear.Looking at the list of free agent right shooting defenseman, there's not a lot of options.

There just isn’t much left in free agency for the Avs. Im not sure if Avs have all their draft picks next year, but if they have a 2nd, 3rd they can use those to bring in a 3rd pair D and another bottom 6 forwards
I still think Foote would be fine for a competing spot with Malinski on the bottom pairing, and if Manson goes down again, he'll fill that spot fine.Only the first 2 are NHL caliber...and we're not even 100% sure with Bear.
I'd have liked Dumba if we'd have traded Girard. Makar, Dumba and Manson on the right side would be nice...but can't afford him because we really need a 3rd liner.
Like who? This isn't true at all.
There's a crazy number of solid UFAs still unsigned that would help this team a lot.
Winning the Cup might be a part of those prices too.3 or 4 mill for Newhook
5 mill for JTC
7 for Kadri
5.2 for Kuemper
Players get rich after leaving the Avs. They better be thankful
The cup absolutely helps, but they also put up career numbers with the Avs which gets them paidWinning the Cup might be a part of those prices too.

Seriously none of those names fit with the Avs. Tarasenko if he came cheap maybe, but even then, you move Lehky down to 3rd line, all of a sudden your top 6 has two players who are bad defensively in Drouin and Tarasenko. The top line gets weaker defensively if let’s say you put Tarasenko with MacK and Mikko. The rest of those guys are just 20, 30 point small forwards. Maybe Tatar would be an option but Sakic said they want to get grittier. None of those players provide much grit or size. Sundqvist has size I guess but I just don’t know. None of those names excite me. Rather go with tradesOff the tip of my head without even looking at a list:
Tarasenko
Kane
Toews
Tatar
Sundqvist
Suter
Boqvist
Bailey
Motte
Parise
Zadina
Kessel
Literally any of these guys would boost the lineup. Some of them would be 4th line upgrades, some of them would be top line upgrades.
