Rumor: 2023-2024 Trade Rumors and Free Agency: Off-season is in full swing

It's unfortunate about Malgin but with the arbitration rights I get it. He likely would have been awarded more than the Avs wanted to pay. There is also no stopping them from circling back to him if he doesn't get the kinds of offers he expects.

They’ll probably offer Malgin a contract. It just won’t be anywhere near what he would have gotten in arbitration though. He’ll likely get a better contract somewhere else though.

We probably won’t have any Avs news until Saturday but it would be nice to have the Byram and Colton contracts done before July 1 so we know where they stand cap wise.

Yesterday I thought we'd use one or both of our 1st round picks as trade bait for a top 6 winger (retained, perhaps).

Now I'm expecting some unsigned UFA on July 5th to be signed for cheap and thrown in our top 6. :(

The ERod experiment 2.0

Merkley comes as no surprise.

Was speaking with his family recently, maybe 5-6 weeks ago, and they don't expect him to continue in North America next year. He's eyeing Russia for $$, but family pushing him towards Germany/Switzerland.

This is a guy who has a lot of blame to throw around, although everybody close to him knows the majority of the accountability falls squarely with him.

Is that enough to go from 1st round exit losing to f***ing Seattle to a Stanley cup?

It’s enough to know we are in a way better position to build a deep team lol. No teams made trades I’m not sure why the avs would spectacularly find the only good trade. They took Colton and got two solid picks in the draft not much else they could do. Now visit free agency and get some depth and visit trading a Dman. The key in all of this is landeskog healing for playoffs

No but I think we make it to the WCF if we were fully healthy and without Nuke going bonkers on us. We probably lose to Vegas tho.

This is a step in the right direction and free agency hasn't even opened yet. Calm down. We've done more than most other teams so far this offseason, what are they all supposed to say?

Absolute best case scenario RyJo and Colton replace Kadri and JTC.

Now we have to replace Landy's production in the top 6. Best chance to do that was trading the picks.

can we get a Venn Diagram of all the posters who complained about the Keumper Trade and the Avs taking two 1sts yesterday?
I mean it was a steep price for a guy who was only signed for one year but I don't think anyone is complaining about it still?

We aren't even in free agency yet lol. Let's see what transpires during the summer.
We'll see but it's going to be extremely difficult to find a 70 pts player that we can afford in free agency or to trade for one now.

We have next year's 1st and 2nd (I believe), plus now we can put guys like Behrens and Foudy on the table (along with roster players like G) to get guys if we need. For example Avs may feel comfortable dealing Behrens now that they have that Russian kid. Who knows. Lots of offseason to go here.
