I don’t have a problem with an organization or company hiding things. Do they have an obligation to disclose, as long as they themselves don’t break the law? They don’t. Epstein and Maxwell is another story, that’s pedophilia.

To be honest, it's a huge part of why I left my last employer. A reason why I'm probably leaving the one I'm out now. Ethics in a work place mean a lot to me anyways. Can't speak for how the Avalanche run things, but I'm sure turnover is quite high in that environment, and if it's not yet, it will be soon.

Billionaires have a ton of interesting things in their closet. There's a reason no one has really been implicated from Epstein and Maxwell yet. It's a huge stain on society, but I totally understand its real and happens all around.

At this point even after the Nuke issue, it's been hard to be a fan of the organization. I think as the players move on and away I'm not sure how I'll look at hockey as a sport. Probably far more from a player perspective, even then though... don't meet your heroes.
Sports in general have a lot of skeletons in the closet. Hockey has its own fair share including the Avs. I totally understand hating it and not being a fan. It most certainly exists though. Many players are not the nicest or most ethical of people and teams have a vested interest in keeping things as quiet as possible. Simply because most casual fans won't dig for the truth, so if they can hide it or at least make it difficult to find, a nice clean image can be kept. I promise you though, the hockey world is fill with some really shady shit.

I'm with you on employers though. I'm privileged enough to be able to be picky about where I work and feel good about it. I understand many are not in that situation though and the business world is every bit as shady in areas.

You don't think that's happened in pro sports? I'm pretty sure multiple pro athletes have been implicated in various nefarious activities including underaged interactions and solicitation.

I mean the Blackhawks covered up sexual abuse for over a decade and barely got fined, and still somehow magically got Bedard. I think the Kovy/Devils cap circumvention was penalized more heavily. That's pretty f***ed up.

To be found guilty of breaking the law means you have to actually get caught doing so. You can hide a lot of things so you don't get caught... doesn't mean there weren't some laws broken though. I guarantee the Avs have broken plenty of laws keeping things quiet over the years. That's what fixers do.

Oh I'm not disillusioned to it. I've worked closely with some high level athletes on projects and have gotten a small look into it. I think it's pretty easy to be blind to it. I'm somewhat ashamed that it took me becoming a father to really see past the glossy finish. But as someone who wants their kid to love the things they love... hockey is becoming a hard sell. Especially when you have a daughter.

Like you I've gotten to make choices work wise, unfortunately the market is a lot tougher now haha.

I'm sure there will always be shady shit in hockey, but I'm really hoping this Hockey Canada ruling comes down hard and starts bringing to light some of the background noise so the sport itself can start to trend in a better direction.

fixers "off-duty cops" lol

Organizations have what incentive to be transparent about it’s inner workings with the public?
Their future as a relevant NHL organization. The world is changing quickly right now. Just wait til hackers and activists aren't trying to keep up with world conflicts and have the time to dig into this shit.

Heck, the entertainment industry has been turned up side down. Parity in pay is becoming normal on sets. Producers, Directors, and Actors have been put in the spotlight. Its a matter of time. How will the Avalanche and or the NHL's image look to its aging fanbase? Good luck keeping the NHL going with the way society is trending.

Enlighten me on which relevant NHL organizations have become irrelevant due to not disclosing internal affairs with the public?

The Hollywood strike is about money, plain and simple. Anyone who believes otherwise is naive. If they got paid what they felt was fair, all of it would go away.

No NHL organizations are becoming irrelevant in regards to their “image in the public”. In fact, the sports industry has and will keep gaining in popularity.

I'm not saying they have yet. I think looking at the social landscape now and into the future though it'll be an issue.

Sure there is a strike, but a lot of Producers, Directors, DOP's and others have been put in the spotlight due to poor life choices. This has nothing to do with the strikes.

You think the NHL will? I personally think the NHL fanbase is aging, not getting younger.

I agree that personal choices should and will have repercussions, but to the individual not to the organizations.

Sports betting is a major influence on the growth in popularity and the NHL has a lot of room to grow in that department.

Anyways I do hope Galchenyuk figures his shit out. Not living up to expectations placed on you can ruin you mentally. Recovery is his path forward.

It's pretty sad, the dude does have legit talent.

Everyone complaining about this would have been fine if CMac converted the #27 and Newhook into Johansen at 50% and Coulton. Look into your heart, you know it to be true.

Well he managed to do that AND get Ritchie and Gulyayev, who are still plenty tradable down the line.
Disappointment. Not a complaint. It's about what he actually does, not what he might have done. The guys drafted are fine and can be pat of future deals.

Kovalenko might be a good add to the roster in the 2nd half of the season. He’s almost a PPG in KHL. All the more good reason not to spend more money on this remaining half washed up UFAs
