He'll still end up in Carolina. This is just a way for the Canes to sign him for even cheaper than the 50% retained cap hit had the trade for him gone through. Screams cap circumvention to me.
Dont think the team can re-sign him for at least 1 year.

Hooked on hockey

There's a reason you feel this way, it's because it's 100% the same. They've just shifted the issues, and this management has proven to be absolute dog shit at in season trading/adjustments, sans one year.

This is why I'm concerned. They need to head into the season with as few problems/areas of concern as possible. Which will require them to be proactive over the next month and a half so when mid September rolls around they are pretty much good to go outside very minor tweeks.
That is a little disingenuous. We started last year with a top six of
Lehky/MacK/Nuke
JTC/Newhook/Rants

The expectation was that Landy would come back after a few months and Newhook would be able to handle 2C. Fast Foward to this year:
Drouin/MacK/Nuke
Lehky/RyJo/Rants

I get there are still more question marks then we would like but assuming RyJo will be healthy which he has indicated. It is at least a legitimate top six without counting on a Landy return and on top of that a bolstered 3rd line. We also had a question mark for Georgie being a starting goalie last year which is now answered. We are in much better shape right now than we were last year even with the current roster. Not 100% the same.

damn, I thought Galchenyuk was caught on drugs, but actually it is even worse?! hit and run is awful, I hope no one got seriously injured by this POS.

He's in Philly, and has been gone from Carolina for over a year. Thus, why they were having to wait till July 8th to announce the trade that was agreed to at the draft. However, now Philly is buying him out. If he signs for cheap in Carolina, we'll know why the trade wasn't completed. Carolina is cap-strapped and trying to trade for Karlsson. They need all the space they can get. Instead of trading for DeAngelo at 50% retained (which would have been $2.5M), they can now sign him even cheaper.

They’re onto us. f***.

Next, they’ll find out Lehky doesn’t actually volunteer at retirement homes. He dumps the immobilized oldies in a nearby lake and sells their wheelchairs for scrap money.
S***, next they’ll find out that Toews is sending out failed training chaotic assistance dogs to people

It was just property damage
seems like a lot more than "just property damage" to me.

"Alex Galchenyuk was arrested on July 9 on a number of charges including private property hit and run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, Threatening or Intimidating"

on a different note, Kuzy on the market, baby! we still have money, do it CMac! put Kuzy and Nuke on a line and set the world on fire :partytime:

Thanks Bill.

For whatever reason, I thought it was Carolina buying him out.

And you know there's police body cam footage on the way.

Seems like a very troubled young man. Bad situation.

I wouldnt hate it, Kuzy, 24 Wash 1st (top 3 protected, Avs 25 2nd rounder back for Girard. Take the full hit or maybe just $1M retained on Kuzy, pick up assets for Girard as part of a hockey trade. Washington is stacked on their right side D and could use a guy like G to stabilize the left side.

Sure, my point was that it was not a hit and run incident with people involved. Not trying to justify any of that stuff, seems like a jackass.
